The night is quiet and the sound of the fish swimming in the pond can be heard. Suddenly, the sound of soft and unhurried footsteps was heard. But, the person inside the room couldn't be calm as she listened to the footsteps of the person walking down the hallway. She felt that her heart was about to leap out of her throat especially when she heard the knocks on the door which were like drums beating inside her chest.
The knocks were followed by the voice of someone speaking, calling her in a respectful manner. After all, she is the only daughter of the Xiao family and the daughter of the main wife.
