It's 8:30 on a Tuesday morning and I'm running late. Assembly is by 7.30 and classes start by 8.30, so basically I am very late and in big trouble. In all honesty I am always late, because I'm something of a heavy sleeper and my roommates have all given up in their attempts to wake me in the morning. I sprint with all my strength to class, I mean I already know I'm going to be late but I'm hoping to get there 5 minutes earlier than I usually do.
I finally reach my destination at 8:41, why did this campus have to be so big. "Good morning__ Mr. Wilder." I greeted in between breaths. "Miss Xander, how nice of you to join us eleven minutes into the class." 'Jeez sarcastic much.' I thought to myself. "Well in all fairness sir this is an improvement from last week." "Am I supposed to applaud or praise you." He said with a scowl. " No sir." He gave a really exaggerated sigh "See me after class." "Well sir do you perhaps mean to see you during break time? I mean we have another class after this." "Make sure to be at my office the minute the bell goes off indicating break time." He said frowning at me. "Well sir technically speaking sir that won't be possible bec-". "Faven Xander, one more word out of you and there will be consequences, are we clear?" No response. "I said are we clear?" "Well sir you told me to not speak." "We are clear then, take your seat and don't cause any further interruptions." I nodded in response and shuffled to my seat. "Well then class let's continue."
I know that I seem rude but I'm honestly not trying to be. For as long as I remember I've never been able to shut up. Sometimes it's a blessing, most times it's a bloody curse. Don't get it twisted I'm not a parrot who talks about anything and everything, I do know how to keep quiet but most times I end up talking at the wrong moments because I never know how to take a hint or read the room and just shut up.
I kind of got the feeling that someone was staring at me and when I turn around to confirm my suspicion I lock eyes with a guy I've never seen before especially not in my class, I ignored it though I mean I probably just imagined him it happens a lot.

Break time came a lot faster than I hoped it would.
"We're only two weeks into the month and you've already been summoned to your teachers office ten times." "Well at least I wasn't summoned everyday." "And that's only because the remaining four days were weekends."My Dad yelled, well sort of yelled. I probably forgot to mention this but my Dad's a teacher here and honestly it's not all that bad it has it's perks... okay no I lied there are no perks unless him finding out about my screwups the second they happen is a perk or unless every teacher knowing you and your family history is considered a perk, then I guess there are perks, but I do not consider those to be perks. "When you get to the teachers office you better apologize to Mr. Wilder and mean it one more complaint from your teachers about you and there will be consequences. Are we clear?" "Yes sir." I mumbled in response. "Zariya, are we clear?" He said emphasizing each word. "Yes sir." I responded more clearly. "Good. I'm not the only teacher with a child in this school but with all the complaints I get one would think I am." He said as he walked away. Well that wasn't really fair since the only complaints he got were about my tardiness, that was literally my only flaw, I was an ace at everything else.

Mr. Wilder did scold but not as much as he usually would, I hate that he seems to be getting used to it. I got detention for two days. I leave his office and bump into Reia, my friend, she was probably the only person I'd call a friend.
"Hey Faven", she greeted. "How many days did you get this time?"
"Two." I replied looking at the guy standing next to her he seemed way too familiar for someone I was sure I'd never seen before. "I'm sorry have we met?" I asked him.
"No, we haven't." He responded in a matter of fact manner.
"Actually you guys probably have." Reia said. "Faven this is Janus a new student in your class." She introduced him. *Ahh! The strange face that was smirking at me in class*
"You'd probably know that if you didn't come to class late." He muttered loudly enough for me to hear. Did he have a problem with me or something, how could he though we just met.
"Uhhh Reia, I gotta go, I'll see you around later."
" 'Kay, byeeeeee."

I want to the library to read one of the internet's highly recommended spell books. While I've always been a straight A student my one weakness has always been projecting my magic. I couldn't even take any of the magic classes for this sole reason, my father was even starting to believe that I had no magic in me and so I had to get a test where it was revealed that I did indeed have magic in me but it was small he almost didn't detect it. Not having any magic might not seem like that big of a deal unless you live in Valdea where everyone who's anyone has magic in them and I am probably the ugly duckling in the story. It'd be okay if I was a normal human, but I'm a freaking fairy.
"Urghh," I sighed loudly. "There isn't any helpful topic in here." I was about to give up and call it a day when I finally saw a page on what I was looking for.
"How to Project your magic." I read out the heading under my breath. "This had better be helpful." I began reading and didn't even realize when I fell asleep.
"Faven." Someone was whispering my name. I opened my eyes feeling groggy, where was I?
"Faven." The person called again.
"Who's there?" I asked.
"Come to me." She said
"Come to.... who the fuck are you?"
"I am your destiny, the key to unlocking your true potential."
"My true potential?"
"Yes, come to me." Suddenly there was a bright blinding light and I was taken back to twelve years ago. There was a lot of shouting and a lot of blood, the last time I saw my Mother and like before she looked back at me one last time before she was plunged with the claws of those filthy wolves.
"Mother." I whispered. "Mom, no, no, Mom!!!" I screamed and woke up with a start to find myself in the library.
"What on earth? A dream?" I reach my hand to my face and feel tear streaks on my face."That's weird I haven't dreamt of Mom in years." and for some reason this dream felt different from the nightmares I had following her death.
I packed my things and headed to my dorm and I needed a good nights rest, the dream was probably as a result of stress and it felt too real. Tomorrow is another day and I need to prepare for it.

Omniscient view point.
In a corner of the library a dark figure stood watching her leave.
"She read it." It said with a smile before vanishing into thin air.
