Chapter 1 - Servitude

"I, Loreli, son of none. Swear loyalty to the Zhade Family," the voice of a young man yelled out for all to hear, from the garden in which he stood.

He was 17 years old and at that point, those 11 words, were the first words he had spoken towards anyone else since his birth. Before that, life was a blur. Some bad things happened but he never really tried to remember the difficult stuff. Only the simple things.

At the time, he had nothing but the clothing on his back. Since his earliest memory until passing out, he acted on feelings really. If he was hungry, he got food. If he got hurt, he fought. If he was tired, he found somewhere to sleep. Etc. How he managed to accomplish what he needed at the time didn't stick to mind.

There were vague flashes of memories that popped up, every so often up while he was on the road. Each one in different places. There was snow in some, he thought. An underground city. A scarred man. There were more that flashed just black in his mind though.

Or was it red?

Anyways, he got by simply by taking care of his basic needs.

Wasn't that how everyone lived?

Well it didn't matter anyways. He was nothing but a sack of meat and bones just wandering/milling about until passing out on the road.

When he woke next, he was being nursed by some gate guards who informed him that he was found in front of their outpost. One of the outposts owned by the Zhade Family.

A captain of the guard came by at some point and informed him that he had to work of the debt he owed them.

"Those hands we helped fix up should be put to use, don't you think boy!" He said, as he thrust a shovel in his hand jovially.

That was the first time he met the Captain Payne, The Unbending.

Did it matter that he was going to do this? It didn't? He believed that he was going to do what they wanted to do and, soon enough, he would be back on the road with this encounter fading to wherever the other memories go.

[Character (?) has low impact on (????)… autonomy for Character (?) remains locked]

Why did he feel like he's seen these blue things before?

[Probability Overload… Logic Locked]

Another one.. he thought, whatever. Might as well do whatever that captain wanted him to do.

The captain had him helping dig traps for hunting. After completing that task he kept assigning more things for him to do.

Eventually, months passed and he was in front of the main manor.

"List! Bring the horses to the stables!" He started to get called List, which was short for Listless, by the guards he worked with for so long. Hearing one of the guards- Reverend, he think his name was- say that, List did as he said.

They were coming back to the main manor for some type of training camp that Captain Payne wanted everyone to attend. List was brought along because he was just a good help.

As he was taking the horses back there, Reverend insisted on taking his horse back there himself.

Everything was going well. Stabling the horses was instinctual at that point.

He turned to look at Reverend who seemed to be having trouble with his horse, when it happened.

The horse kicked List straight in the back as Reverand was trying to get the saddle of his horse.

The last thing List saw was Reverand trying to make sure he was okay. The last few things he heard was "Help! We have someone hurt!?"

That was nice.

It was assuring to List, that one of his last memories was someone caring for him.

[Character (Listless) date of death… 19th day of Raigon in the year 186 P.C.]

[Probability Lacking… Logic Unlock… Potential Variable Detected… Variable Insert]

As Reverand was screaming out for help, the body of Listless jerked forward suddenly.

And with a yell unbecoming of 'Listless.'

"17 FREAKING YEARS YOU BASTARDSSSSS!!!! ARE YOU KIDDING!"

'Listless,' was so moved that the tears flowing from his eyes were enough to wash some blood away. By 'his' eyes, I mean mine.

I finally had control over this damn characters body!

It was surely the body of canon fodder but still I was stuck as another person for so long, I was doubting who I was.

Ah shit, the messages.

[Probability doubted… Checking… Character (Listless) Death was not witnessed officially… Probability has changed Character (Listless) Death to Condition due surviving with {Physical Trait: Strong Body}… Probability Cleared]

{Achievement: Back From the Clutches of Death… 200 points awarded… +2 to CON and STA… Title Earned }

[Warning: (?&@?), Watcher of Sevæt has witnessed you]

{Achievement: Noticed by one of "Them"… 500 points awarded… +1 to all stats}

Well… that was a lot to take in.

I wonder when the condition is supposed to…

'Oh now,' I thought before my back shot a searing hot pain straight to my head.

The last thing I heard myself do was scream loud before the my vision went dark.
