Ysabel raised her hand and shielded her face. The morning light was a little blinding and she had to squint while strolling toward the market for her first assignment.
For this round, each monarch was allowed to tag their servants along. Ysabel had Reis accompany her but not as a servant. She was there to act as a support.
In short, she brought Reis along like they were merely escaping the palace for a while.
"Did you know," Ysabel whispered, squinting at the bright sky. She could hear the chaotic shouts of vendors selling their goods. The scent of fresh meat and fish wafted through her nostrils. "I forgot something today."
Reis pursed her lips.
She had realized that she too had almost forgotten what day it was.
Briefly checking the small pouch she was hiding in the pockets of her skirt, Reis listened attentively to what Ysabel had to say.
