'Hm, a weekend. Alright time to grind, and figure out how to learn a spell for my wind affinity… Wait, didn't Victoria have an affinity relating to wind?
That could work, but that means I have to find out where she lives.. Well guess it's about time to explore the city.'
Ray gets up and gets dressed, as he walks out of his massive stone building.
"Hello Lord Kaine! Where are you going?" Modri shouts as he walks up.
"Hello young one, I will be heading into town again today to go see a friend." Ray responds.
As he looks at Modri, he can see him squirming nervously as if he wants to say something.
"Go on, you are free to speak your mind." Ray says.
"I-i was wondering if I could come along..? I haven't gotten to see the city up close yet! And I wanted to see it.." Modri says nervously.
"I see no issue with this, as long as your parents are aware you are leaving."
"Yay!" Modri yells as he runs off to go talk to his family.
After around ten minutes of waiting, Modri rushes out with a large bag and sprints towards Ray as they walk off towards the city.
*****
"Wow! This place is massive! Look at all the castles!! So… where are we headed Lord Kaine?" Modri asks.
"While we are here, call me Ray, and as far as this city is concerned I am no god, and you are my little brother. We are headed to a noble friend's house." Ray says calmly.
"Oh, Okay!" Modri responds, 'Why doesn't he want them to know he is a god..?'
As they walk, Ray stops a guard and asks, "Do you know where the Fireleaf establishment is?"
"Hm? What would a commoner like yourself be trying to do with noble folk?" The guard asks with a thick accent.
"I am friends with the daughter of theirs and wanted to review for college, now, are you aware of where they are or not?" Ray says with a stern voice.
"Oi, calm down there, wouldn't want to take ye in for threatening a guard would ya? They live over yonder, keep walking and you should find them." The guard responds as he walks off.
Modri prepares to yell, but with a quick hand wave from Ray, he decides to be silent.
"Lo- I mean Ray, why would you let them speak to you that way?!" Modri asks while still glaring at the guard.
"As I said before, as far as these mortals are concerned I am nothing more than a student, and I'd prefer to keep it that way for now." Ray responds in a hushed tone.
They keep walking and eventually arrive at the gates of the Fireleaf castle, a massive structure, with an elegant bright red forest surrounding it with a massive flaming fountain in the center.
"W-wow… They are… loaded." Modri stutters in awe.
A tall butler walks up and says. "Good evening, good sirs, may I ask why you have come to the great Fireleaf manor?"
"I have come to see Victoria Fireleaf." Ray responds.
"Ah, Lady Victoria? I shall go see if she is accepting visitors at this moment." The butler turns around.
"Hey, before I leave may I ask your name?" Ray asks.
"Axelby Okane, and yours?" Axelby responds.
"Ray Kaine."
"M-Modri K-Kaine." Modri says nervously, 'Crap! I almost messed up! I am supposed to be his brother!'
"Very well." Axelby walks off down the path to the manor.
*****
*Knock Knock*
"Hmm… Who's there?" Victoria sighs as she responds while only half awake.
"Young Lady, you have visitors." Axelby responds
"Hm..? Who?" Victoria gets up and begins to get dressed.
"A young man sporting a college uniform and his brother, they are named Ray and Modri Kaine."
"Huh?!" Victoria rushes and puts make up on as she sprints out
"Why didn't you say that from the beginning?! And since when does he have a brother…" She shouts
"I assume since his birth Lady Victoria, would you like me to invite them in?" Axelby says quite calmly.
"Yeah." She responds as she begins to put makeup on.
*****
After waiting for almost 15 minutes Axelby returns to Ray and says,
"The lady has asked for you to be escorted in, Follow me." Axelby begins to walk off.
Ray and Modri begin to follow after him, as they enter the hall of the castle they see large paintings of the family in front of their symbol, a Burning tree surrounded by a ring of leaves.
Modri keeps gasping as he looks around and sees massive statues, and mage robes decorating the hall, as well as the centerpiece,
which is a large staff made out of mahogany with a ruby crystal in the center of the staff.
"Hello Ray!" Victoria says as she walks down the staircase.
"Hey, Victoria."
"H-Hi!" Modri yells.
"Oh! Who is this?" Victoria asks curiously.
"Him? He is my little brother." He responds
"You have a brother?"
"Yes, My family just got here recently."
"Hm, I should say hi to them some time." She says nonchalantly
'Shit! Guess I have to fill them in on our little lie..' Ray thinks.
"So, anyway, may I ask why you are here?"
"Well, I wanted to learn a Wind spell, and I remember that your Inferno affinity is related to wind, so I was wondering if you knew any?" Ray asks.
"Hm? No, I didn't study wind affinity when I was younger, but I believe Axelby here has wind as an affinity." She says.
"Indeed." Axelby answers.
"Perfect! Would you be free to teach me a spell?" Ray requests.
"Very well, I believe the best simple spell to learn would be Wind scythe, it is good for both long and short range, and can be used with elbows, hands, and feet, so it is quite versatile in comparison to other spells."
*****
After an hour and a half, Ray sees a notification.
[New Spell Gained!]
[Wind Affinity: Wind Scythe!]
[Effect: A blade of wind that cuts through many materials and can be used with a variety of body parts. It is extremely sharp, but can be dulled if the caster wishes it to be. It can cost anywhere from 3-30 mana, getting stronger the more you spend on it.]
'Amazing.. He grasped the spell quite quickly in comparison to most others, especially for someone who only recently broke through into the first circle…' Axelby ponders as he watches Ray.
"Whew… Thank you again for your help Axelby." Ray says as he catches his breath
"No problem at all, you are quite talented. If you need any more wind spells I would be delighted to instruct you. Your brother is currently in the grand hall with Lady Victoria." Axelby replies.
Ray walks off into the grand hall, looking for Victoria.
"Ray!" Modri sprints up.
"Hello! You finished training?" Victoria asks as she walks up.
"Yeah, I managed to learn the spell, anyway we have errands to run, so I will see you around." Ray says as he gets his stuff.
"Hey! We didn't hang out at all! I am coming with you!" Victoria shouts.
"As you wish…" Ray says, 'Damn, I didn't want to bring her along, I haven't had anytime to prepare the others.
"Before we leave, I think you should head home Modri, Mom doesn't want you out so late." Ray tells him before kneeling down and whispering,
"Head home and inform them of the situation, be careful though, the forest could be dangerous.."
