So, uh...you can turn off the water once you're done in here," he announced.
She frowned at his retreating figure as she continued washing herself. She wasn't used to seeing him wear nothing but boxers, but he seemed perfectly comfortable in the shower nonetheless and it bothered her. Maybe she was simply reading more into the gesture than was necessarily warranted, although that wasn't the case. Perhaps she should give him a warning. He shouldn't walk around naked if he wasn't planning on sharing his space with her anytime soon.
When she finally stepped out of the shower stall, dressed in one of his white t-shirts and a pair of blue jean shorts, she found him sitting down on the bed and staring absently out of the window. She walked closer to where he sat and placed her hands on the window sill next to him, leaning against it. "Do you think that she was really asleep when I arrived?" She murmured quietly, glancing in his direction.
His eyes flitted back to hers momentarily and he frowned thoughtfully. "I doubt it, since she's always awake when I return home from school." He shrugged. "Even so, she could have just fallen asleep. She seems pretty tired sometimes. Maybe when I was out late the night before, she fell asleep as well." The young man stood up and grabbed a pair of boxers, throwing them in Annabeth's general direction while he was speaking. "You can use these, unless they're mine."
She caught them quickly before looking back at him, blinking a couple of times, confused by his words for a moment before smiling slightly and blushing as she realized what he meant. She nodded slightly as she looked back outside the window and started changing her clothes before putting the borrowed clothing back on. She had already taken her backpack off before she got to the shower, so when she finished, she put it back on, then picked up the bag containing the two objects that were currently residing inside of it. She pulled one of the objects out and showed it to Percy. "Look," she simply said, pointing at the object with one finger.
Looking closely at it, Percy gave Annabeth an odd look. "Is that supposed to be a compass? It looks nothing like one," he remarked, raising one eyebrow in question.
The raven haired girl glanced away for a moment before showing him the map of their location. "Yes. This is how I saw my home back in New York. But when I was running, I must have touched it somehow which caused a few symbols on the map to light up or something similar," she explained, setting it aside before she moved to the other thing she brought with her. "We are not far away from where I came from. I remember that there was a village nearby, but unfortunately I haven't seen anything remotely close to the village yet. I think that maybe we should stay here tonight and wait until morning comes before we continue."
"That sounds like a good idea," Percy agreed as he moved to sit on the edge of the bed.
Annabeth set the other object next to him as well, a blanket covered with colorful patterns on it. "I'm sorry if this isn't as fancy as your room is, but this is what I was able to grab while I was in the city," she said apologetically, blushing when she realized how much she had basically invaded his privacy.
He chuckled lightly at her apology. "Don't worry. It's actually quite nice." He paused before saying quietly: "If you don't mind, I'm just gonna sleep for the night, and you can go ahead and do the same. I'll wake you up early if you start to feel sleepy though, okay?"
"Are you sure?"
"Of course!
