Reina stood by the window, her gaze unfocused on the sprawling gardens outside. It had been hours since the visit, yet the conversation replayed in her mind, each word etched with significance. She hadn't realized how tense she had been until Xenia approached her.
"My Lady, you have kept to yourself since after the visit," Xenia said, her voice soft but filled with concern.
"I am alright, Xenia," Reina replied, turning away from the window. "Tell me, have you had anything to eat, or are you just concerned only about me?"
"It is my duty to..."
"Xenia, you do not need to worry so much about me," Reina interrupted gently. "And yes, it was a long path, so I am just a bit tired." She gave a convincing smile, and Xenia nodded, not wanting to question her any longer.
"Where is Matthew? I have not seen him around."
"He had gone to visit his lady and children. I doubt if he would be back before night."
