Jack sank into Amon's car seat with a sigh of appreciation before taking a moment to mutter over Amon's question for a bit. Still skeptical about the whole situation, he decided to answer with, 'Someone told me on a train,' then he asked, 'How about you?' steering the subject away from himself. 'You're from London, right? Why're you living here?'
'Came for a holiday and didn't want to leave.' Amon shrugged. 'So I stayed.'
'And you say you keep tabs on the weird stuff that goes down around here,' Jack continued.
'You could say that.'
'So what turned you on to it?'
'I lost friends to some pretty weird shit in this city,' Amon replied casually.
'Details?' Jack asked.
'You're still a newly formed adult,' Amon said lightly. 'You don't want details.'
'Uh-uh.' Jack shook his head. 'Too easy for you. If I'm going to trust you I need to know why you're helping me now. What's in it for you?'
'A cynical little sod, as well as secretive!'
