Jennie looked at her reflection on the mirrior and quickly put up her college uniform- a plain white half-sleeve shirt, along with a navy blue skirt. Almost every other student of Xavier's hated the concept of uniforms for college but Jennie found it feasible, it saved her time ,she would have otherwise wasted making decisions on her dress every morning and not to mention her small wardrobe.
At 8:30, half an hour prior to her first class Jennie met Jule and Alex in the dining room. Both Jule and Alex were wearing their tracks like most of the students present there. Jennie was really relieved to know her small tricks were working.
"You have a class at nine ?!" Jule asked holding an apple in her hand when she saw Jennie in her college dress. "You know you can reschedule your classes right ?" she added further.
"It is fine.... I like my class schedule." Jennie replied, with pursed lips. She clearly was a bad liar "By the way am I the only one who feels the hall is a bit chattier today." she quickly switched topics and asked. When Jennie entered she noticed even though there were not many students present in the hall but it was much buzzier than yesterday.
"Oh...That is because of him." Jule pointed towards her right.
Jennie looked in the direction and her heart skipped a beat when she saw the mysterious guy from the alley again. He was casually dressed in a white shirt and grey trousers but still he looked as pleasing to the eyes as he had looked the other day.
"Definitely a Code red ?" Jennie whispered more to herself than for Jule and Alex. It was impossible for Jennie not to notice the attention he was getting from the people around him.
"Wrong." Jule shook her head, "He is Code black." she spoke taking a big bite of her apple.
"Black! I did not know there were four codes. What does it mean ?" Jennie asked curiously, her eyes still on the mysterious student.
"It was made just for him" Alex answered, "It means you run in the opposite direction when you see Killian Frost." Alex glanced at Jennie who was still looking in Killian's direction "Nothing ever good has come to anyone being around him. He is always serving detentions and not to mention his strong will to break bones and rules. He is a complete rogue. He attracts trouble for him and everyone around him."
Jennie nodded her head in agreement, she had already been one of the affected parties, but he did not look so bad in their little meet-up the other day. Cold, aloof but rogue she was not so sure, nevertheless, she made a mental note to stay away from Killian.
Jule gave a sheepish smile and added "Insanely handsome rogue you could call him."
Alex's eyes slightly twitched at the comment.
"Why do the authorities keep up with him then, does he have some dirt on the owners." Jennie joked light-heartedly. She wanted to know more about him.
Alex shook his head "Among many organizations his family owns, this university is one of them including the large forest around it." Alex then looked at Killian with his thoughtful eyes "He is an abnormality even among elites. No one seems to figure out how he manages to make so much trouble and still get a perfect score."
"Perfect Score !" 'Could have cheated, he is the owner.' Jennie thought.
"You must be thinking he cheated" Jule spoke as if reading Jennie's thoughts "No Jennie, he is good at everything he does, like some sort of a genius you could call him. He would have been a perfect guy if he was not so rude and violent. You know at the age of fifteen he started a company by himself. You must have heard about the multi-billion dollar organization 'Omega' ?"
Jennie's face twitched at the name of the organization, but then she was quick to regain her normal expressions and nodded. "Interesting !" she spoke even without realizing it.
"Jennie" Jule looked at her with a smile on her face " I admit he is impossible to resist but you will be fine. Just don't start loving him. He is like a flame, that burns everything that closes in. Just stand at a distance and enjoy the warmth like the other girls do." she added giggling.
"Love ?" Jennie spoke the word hesitantly.
"You don't believe in true love." Jule inquired immediately with pursed lips "Bad relationships in the past ?"
Jennie just smiled weakly in response.
It was not that she did not believe in love on the contrary she believed it was the most powerful thing. It had the power to break even the strongest of people. She had witnessed the effects of love firsthand and what it had done to her father after her mother left.
"Jenni-" Jule was still visibly curious but a small glare from Alex stopped her from bombing Jennie with questions.
From the corner of her eye, Jennie saw Killian get up from his seat and starting to leave. The atmosphere turned heavier immediately.
'I guess I am not the only one who acts weird in his presence.' Jennie thought as she looked at the students shuffling on their chairs as he walked past them.
As soon as Killian stepped a foot outside the hall the temperament of the room turned back to normal.
Jennie was curious about Killian and even though she had decided to stay away from him, but whatever short meetup they had he did not look like someone to be called rogue. He even helped her get up from the ground and then pick her id.
Once done with her breakfast Jennie stood up ready "Classes. See you both later." she greeted the two and hung her bag on her shoulder.
"You know which building you need to go right ?" Jule asked out of concern.
"Yes I got the map here." Jennie raised her phone to reassure her friend.
"Jennie you should stay a mile away from Killian if you do not wish any unwanted attention," Alex advised.
"Noted," Jennie replied with a smile. She was really grateful to have met the two of them. She could see herself staying friends with the two even after college.
Jennie headed towards the building where the classes were held. As expected the building was magnificent. Entering through the door Jennie noticed the large open space, at the center were the stairs that led to the upper floors.
Jennie checked her phone for the directions and walked towards her class that was on the first floor.
She noticed that her small trick had worked and there were not many students present in the building at this time.
When she entered the class a male teacher was already present and was standing beside the chair. She walked up to him and after giving him a bow she spoke "Jennifer Ashwood, new admission." she then showed him a paper that she had collected from the office.
After giving it a quick check the teacher handed the papers back to Jennie. "I am Erwin Dale, I am your Business Communication teacher. You are already late in the session, so take any of the front seats and do concentrate." Jennie has picked business as her major not out of interest but out of necessity to get a high-paying job.
"Thank you." Jennie replied and was ready to leave when Mr. Dale stopped her.
"Aren't you going to introduce yourself ?" Mr. Dale spoke.
Jennie faced the class that had just over a dozen students present. "I am Jennifer Ashwo-" before she could even introduce herself one of the student spoke.
"You are the one who got into the detention room on the first day ?"
"Yes." came a girl's reply "And she got into a fight with Naomi too." the girl chuckled.
"She even made a fool out of Ms. Adrian" another one said.
The class murmured and Jennie looked down in embarrassment. "You are already famous." Mr. Dale eyed her as if mentally taking note of a trouble maker "Go take your seat."
Jennie walked toward the front seats and sat on one of the cushioned chairs before taking out a pen and a notebook. She ignored the stare she got from other students and concentrated on her class. She wanted to maintain her good grades here too.
After the bell rang Jennie was quick to leave the class as her next class was after lunch.
She made her way toward the restroom. The next class had already started so there were not many students in the corridor. The college was strict with students bunking classes so there were teachers who made timely rounds around the corridors to keep such students in check.
Entering the washroom, she was greeted with light blue walls with flowery pattern tiles. There was a huge mirror and ten basins opposite it.
Jennie walked up to one of the sinks and turned up the faucet. Attending a class after months of break was really tiring. She splashed cold water on her face. Then pulling some tissues she dabbed her face. Once done Jennie took one last glance of herself in the mirror.
Jennie was just ready to leave when she noticed a small red light at the corner of the room.
With narrowed eyes she walked straight towards the red light on the ceiling, not sure what it was about.
Jennie was still staring when a small box-like thing protruded from the ceiling behind the light and started ringing, like a siren.
"Shit ! when did they fix it." came a voice of a boy from a cubical just beside her.
Before Jennie could make any sense of the whole situation the door of the cubical suddenly flung open and the boy with piercing crashed into her.
Jennie fell down like a sack of potatoes by the sudden impact.
I could not even use the restroom without bumping into some idiot now? was her thoughts while she was taking the fall.
The piercing boy gave Jennie who was getting up a snarl and was ready to bolt away when Jennie caught his shirt "Where's the apology, you pervert !" she spoke and pulled him by his shirt.
The sudden pull caught the boy off-guard and in the next second, he came toppling to the ground.
When Jennie had woken up today she had stood in front of the mirror and told herself how ordinary the day would be. And pulling a rowdy-looking guy in the ladies' toilet with an alarm ringing over their head was the last thing on her list.
