It only took another half an hour to weave through the city to arrive at the apartment complex where Kayla and Mayra lived. He already phoned them beforehand about his arrival but it really puzzled him greatly hearing them not as enthusiastic about it as much as he liked them to be.
Their voices seemed drained and reserved which was not how they usually act. He thought there was some trouble but soon drained that thought out. If something were to go wrong, he was sure his people would inform him about it after all they were keeping an eye on every one of his acquaintances as a part of ramping up the security.
Beside, Kayla was a detective there was no way she wouldn't be defending herself knowing what he had been up to these past couple of days. He parked the car and headed up the elevator straight to their floor.
