THE deafening silence of the woods made Shari heightened her senses. Where could the targets possibly hide?
Even her companion was so focused that he probably forgot he had company.
Gio tightly grasped his long rifle as soon as they heard the snapping of the twigs. Shari aimed her gun in the same direction. They walked stealthily and finally caught a glimpse of a moving object.
A deer.
Gio and Shari stared at each other in disappointment.
"I thought we were going into action." Gio lightly shook his head.
"Given the vast area of this forest, how many targets are we expecting to find?" Shari asked.
"A hundred and ten."
"And the hunters?" Shari's face was curious.
"We were only twelve," Gio answered while his eyes were busy observing their location.
"I see. Don't worry. I'll help you win. Please tell me more. I'm quite fascinated."
"Did I mention they have their weapon of choice?"
Shari gaped. "They did?"
