In an instant, Skylar's form shimmered, and she became a blur of movement, darting around with the same speed as Hoshiko's light. The Disciples exchanged wary glances, sensing the growing challenge before them.
Sasaki tightened his grip on his swords, his wolf-like gaze narrowing.
"Her aura, it's exactly like Hoshiko's! But how come? It might have something to do with that touch. Be careful guys!" he warned, his voice laced with determination.
Isamu crackled with thunder, summoning bolts of lightning in his hands.
Homura's flames burned brighter, a fierce determination radiating from his very being.
His fiery gaze locked on Skylar.
"Let's show her the true extent of our abilities."
Kuragami's eyes gleamed with a mix of caution and calculation. But somehow in this situation, he's able to smile.
"Let's see what this girls got."
He uses his Blessed Arm.
With their resolve fortified, the Disciples launched their coordinated assault. Sasaki attacked with swift slashes, his blades cutting through the air with precision. Isamu summoned thunderous storms, bolts of lightning crashing towards Skylar. Cherry manipulated the very roots beneath her feet, causing vines to ensnare their opponent. Homura unleashed a maelstrom of fire, engulfing the area in a searing blaze.
Yet, with each attack, Skylar effortlessly evaded, dodging and countering with the Disciples' own powers. Her movements were graceful, fluid, and nearly impossible to track. She flickered through the onslaught, borrowing the strengths of her adversaries.
Kuragami tries punching her with his Blessed Arm. However she easily evades every attack due to her speed that surpasses light.
The Disciples fought valiantly, their coordinated efforts testing the limits of Skylar's borrowed powers. But despite their skill and unity, they found themselves struggling against the enigmatic girl's prowess.
She then somehow uses Starlight Stream towards Kuragami. With barely any time to react, he uses his Blessed Arm to block the strike.
She then jumps over the Blessed Arm and gets a touch of his head.
"What the hell?!"
She then attempts to freeze Kuragami.
"She has ice now?! No way!"
However, she is unsuccessful as Kuragami jumps out the way. The others then began to attacks relentlessly.
She weaved through their attacks with an uncanny grace, countering their blows with a finesse that left them off-balance.
The team exchanged glances, their expressions a mixture of determination and frustration. They had encountered formidable foes before, but Skylar's ability to adapt and harness different elements made her a unique challenge.
Kuragami's All Sight flashed momentarily, granting him a glimpse of a potential strategy.
"I get it now!"
Kuragami vanishes and appears in front of Cherry protecting her from Skylar. They both then see Skylar was already making her way to Cherry.
"What?! How did he know?"
Kuragami smiles.
"I knew it! I just need her to touch someone else to prove my theory."
"What theory Kura?"
"You'll see!"
"I wouldn't want anything from that nature creature anyways!"
She dashes towards Homura. She attempts to punch Homura but he dodges. She then drops to the ground and freezes Homura feet down.
"Uh oh. I can't move!"
She then lightly touches Homura and smiles.
"Thank you for that!"
Her fist then goes on fire.
"See that? Anyone she touches, she gains their element. Hey everyone! Don't let her touch you! She will change into your element. It would be better if Sasaki was up front!"
The Disciples nodded, their determination reignited by Kuragami's words. They adjusted their tactics, aiming to overwhelm Skylar with a barrage of coordinated attacks. Sasaki lunged forward with a series of lightning-fast strikes, feinting to throw off Skylar's predictability. Isamu unleashed a torrent of thunder, enveloping the area in a booming storm that made it difficult for her to maneuver. Cherry summoned vines and roots from multiple angles, creating a web of entanglement to restrict Skylar's movement. Homura intensified his flames, creating a blazing inferno that consumed the battlefield, threatening to overwhelm Skylar's borrowed powers.
Despite their efforts, Skylar proved elusive, her borrowed abilities enabling her to adapt and navigate the chaos surrounding her. She danced through the onslaught, evading their attacks with grace and retaliating with their own powers, often catching the Disciples off-guard.
The Disciples adjusted their strategy once more, focusing on creating opportunities rather than overwhelming her with sheer force. Kuragami, using his All Sight, provided guidance, predicting Skylar's movements and countering her borrowed abilities with precise timing. However, his All Sight will sometimes not work.
Sasaki, with a fierce growl, utilized his wolf-like agility to feint and distract, creating an opening for Isamu to deliver a concentrated blast of thunder directly at Skylar. The impact sent her stumbling, momentarily breaking her concentration and disrupting her connection to their powers.
Cherry seized the opportunity, rapidly growing trees around Skylar, ensnaring her in a dense thicket of branches and foliage. The entanglement limited her movement and provided an opening for Homura, who unleashed a colossal burst of flames, engulfing the area in a scorching blaze.
The combined efforts of the Disciples momentarily overwhelmed Skylar, pushing her to the brink. However, as the smoke cleared, they realized she had vanished, leaving behind only a faint trace of her presence.
Kuragami's eyes scanned the surroundings, a mix of concern and curiosity in his gaze.
"She's gone," he murmured, his voice tinged with uncertainty.
"But I can't sense her anymore. She's slipped away."
The team regrouped, their expressions a mix of exhaustion and contemplation. They had put up a valiant fight, testing Skylar's limits, but she had proven to be a formidable adversary.
Sasaki looks up to the sky.
"Who the hell is she?!"
As they prepared to move forward, the team took solace in their unity and unwavering resolve.
Skylar is a distance away from them.
She punches a tree with power built up by her anger. The tree falls.
"Dammit! Why are they so weak?!"
She then drops to the ground.
"These guys are nowhere near strong enough to beat my brother. They're just here to get themselves killed."
She looks to the sky.
"The Supreme King? My brother? Maybe he is the one that was chosen."
She looks down at her hands.
She starts reminiscing about what her brother said to her.
The sun dipped below the horizon, casting a warm glow over the tranquil meadow where young Skylar sat alone, lost in thought. Her bright eyes brimmed with curiosity and a hint of melancholy as she pondered her unique abilities.
"Why am I different?"
Skylar whispered to herself, her voice tinged with innocence.
"Why do I have this power? Why can't I have normal powers just like other people?"
As if hearing her unspoken question, a figure emerged from the shadows. It was a young man, his features gentle yet marked with a weight of responsibility. He approached Skylar and sat down beside her, a comforting presence.
"You have a gift, Skylar," he began, his voice carrying a soothing tone.
"You were born with the ability to borrow powers, a power that sets you apart from others. It is your fate to work under the guidance of the Supreme King."
Skylar's brows furrowed as she contemplated his words.
"But why is it my fate?" she questioned, her voice tinged with a hint of defiance.
"Why should I be bound by something I never asked for? Shouldn't I have a say in my own destiny?"
The young man regarded her with a mixture of understanding and sadness.
"Sometimes, our paths are chosen for us," he explained gently.
"There are forces at play beyond our understanding, and your unique ability is part of a greater purpose. The Supreme King sees your potential and wishes to guide you in honing your abilities."
Skylar's eyes shimmered with a mix of confusion and uncertainty.
"But what about my own dreams and aspirations?" she asked, her voice filled with longing.
"What if I want to explore the world and discover my own path?"
The young man smiled, his eyes filled with compassion.
"Skylar, I understand your desire for freedom and independence," he said, his voice carrying a quiet strength.
"But sometimes, our destinies are intertwined with a greater tapestry. Embracing your power and working under the guidance of the Supreme King can lead you to unforeseen opportunities and the chance to make a difference."
Skylar's gaze met his, and a spark of understanding ignited within her. She realized that she held a power that set her apart, and with it, the potential to shape her own destiny, even within the boundaries that seemed predetermined.
With a newfound sense of determination, Skylar turned her gaze toward the distant horizon.
"Perhaps working for the Supreme King doesn't have to be a restriction," she whispered, her voice filled with resolve.
"Maybe it can be a stepping stone to fulfill my own dreams and bring about positive change."
The young man nodded, a mixture of pride and reassurance shining in his eyes.
"You are strong, Skylar," he said, his voice filled with belief.
"You possess the power to transcend expectations, to forge your own path even within the framework set by others. Trust in yourself and embrace the journey that lies before you."
Skylar smiled, a glimmer of determination lighting up her features. In that moment, as the sun's final rays painted the meadow with a golden hue, she understood that her fate was not a limitation. It was an opportunity to grow, to learn, and to shape her own destiny while working alongside the Supreme King.
And so, with a sense of purpose burning in her heart, Skylar stood, ready to face the challenges that awaited her.
Back to present time…
"My brother is a prime example of how power can change a person."
