Looking at how Todd was behaving now, Michael remained very concerned.
What if something happened to Wendy after he left her alone here? He would not be able to protect her then.
Michael held her hand and shook his head again.
Pursing her lips, Wendy lowered her eyes.
"Why? Are you afraid that I would do something terrible to Corrine?" Todd laughed.
"So I am now such a bad person in your mind?"
From his tone, Wendy thought it would not be right to reject his request. They were friends after all.
Sighing, Wendy let go of Michael's hand and said softly, "Wait for me outside."
"Wendy, you..."
Wendy interrupted before he could finish his sentence. But what she said couldn't be heard. She leaned into Michael as she spoke, afraid that Todd might be hurt if he heard her.
Wendy said, "Wait outside by the door for me. If something happens, I will shout for you."
