Michael really didn't know what else he could do. He only wished that Wendy wouldn't be troubled by it anymore and return to Lake City with him.
"Believe you?" Wendy softly mumbled. She shook her head, laughing as though she was mocking herself. "There's no need for me to believe you. You didn't do anything wrong."
The person who had made a mistake was Wendy, so she had no reason to make Michael give her any sense of security.
