Wendy stopped.

Zen had not wanted to overhear Wendy's conversation with Michael.
If only she had not heard it, it would have been better.
If she had not been curious about why the atmosphere at dinnertime was so odd, it would have been better.
Zen was shaking visibly by now but remained silent.
