Synopsis
The path to realizing one's destiny is often littered with tragedy. In this light novel, we follow the immortal yet not invincible Tifon, as he comes to terms with a world governed by indifferent Gods, who only favor a small portion of humans while abandoning the rest. On his path to Godhood, only one thing is certain, he won't make it through unscathed.

Chapter 1 - THE SEAMS GLITTER

???: "Alright, alright… What exactly do you want from me again?"

!!!: "Come on! It's just one really small detour, what's the worst that could happen?!"

A youthful girl and boy, both around the ages of 17, can be seen strolling through the campus hallways. Well, more specifically, a boy can be seen trying to stroll away from a girl chasing him through the campus hallways.

???: "…"

!!!: "Minisculely small even!"

???: "… I'm just going to-"

!!!: "Hey, HEY! You wait right there, Tifon!"

In reality, there was absolutely no reason why Tifon would be in a hurry to leave the campus since he'd already stayed put for a while after his last period, but, in his mind, he had to at least feign some resistance, to not be regarded as a pushover, of course.

Tifon: "Can you please explain to me, why, oh why, I would grant you any more favors, Aurora?"

Aurora: "HaHaHaa, isn't it obvious?"

Aurora smugly puffed out:

"Aren't you the Gods' most favored savior of humanity? The one with the X-K∞ Boon? Ring any bells?"

Aurora tended to appeal in such a sarcastic manner to Tifon when asking for something. Not really because she didn't care for what she was asking of him, but more in the sense that she didn't doubt that Tifon would humor her regardless. In simpler terms:

Tifon was nevertheless regarded as a pushover.

Tifon: "Gods, how long are you going to hold that over my head, Aurie? How can I be expected to be held accountable for some dumb shit I said when I was, like, what, 5?"

Almost as if acknowledging his defeat in the previous second, not skipping a beat, Tifon went back to calling Aurora by her usual nickname.

Aurora: "Until you were 7, to be exact, and, more importantly, come. On. Already!"

After an exaggerated sigh Tifon continued:

"Gods…Listen! The last time I went with you to run errands I was stabbed in your stead! That was my favorite jacket, Aurie! Granny still hasn't been able to get the ichor off!"

Now what Tifon was just talking about is his "Boon", or gift from the Gods. Which in truth was more like a curse, or, to spare some grim for the later chapters, a bad joke. Why? Well, usually those born with Ichor (golden blood) in their veins possess an innate X-K1 or higher graded Boon. But, in Tifon's case, it might as well have been better not to have his. And even further to his dismay, the distinction between his Boon graded a lowly V, and that of an actual X-K# Grade Boon was a small, and almost glossed over detail.

10 YEARS BEFOREHAND

Tifon: "Immortality… Without… Invincibility?"

Dr. Boris: "Precisely my boy! It seems you nearly had me fooled there with all your boasting! Haha haha."

The good doctor was fond of letting out unusual wooden laughs when giving news to his patients. Particularly when the news was of grievance to them.

Doctor Boris continued through Tifon's stagnating silence as if ignoring his sudden fall from grace or, rather, capitalizing on it.

"Ichor too eh? Haha haha, it seems the Gods haven't lost their sense of humor at least!"

What, to Tifon, seemed as though the greatest moment of his life, and perhaps even the true start of it no more than an hour before had now suddenly transformed into the end of all his hopes.

Until this fortuitous moment, Tifon had no idea what his Boon could be. Seeing as diagnostic testing could only be done when just entering middle school age and was forbidden beforehand, for safety reasons, of course. However one thing was certain to Tifon and his grandparents, in whose care he'd been ever since he could remember, and that was the almost irrefutable fact:

That it would be spectacular.

His entire life's meaning was hanging by its realization, his fate would be revealed by it.

And that? Well, it just crashed and burned right in front of him.
