Chapter 9 - I Feel So Wronged

Ling Chengyan poured half a bottle of milk and handed it to Xiao Tian. The baby held the bottle and gulped it down. His relatives were all grouped up around him, watching him with faces full of awe and joy.

"Alright, with this appetite, you'll definitely grow up to be a healthy kid!"

"Yes, yes, this little guy will definitely have a strong body!"

Ling Chengyan looked at Xiao Xing, who was leaning on her side and slowly eating a peach pastry. She couldn't help but sigh in her heart. The two Wang family households were too different.

Her poor children were reincarnated into the wrong family. If they were reincarnated into this household, would they have suffered as much?

Wang Futang and his wife suggested that the three of them stay for dinner, but Ling Chengyan rejected their offer.

In this era, no one had enough food. Besides, she and the two children were part of the second Wang household. Their household register and work points were all there. Why should they eat elsewhere and save for them?

"Alright, then I'll send you off." Qu Cui held Xiao Xing's hand as she walked her out.

Ling Chengyan couldn't refuse. Not forgetting to thank her uncle and cousins, she picked up Xiao Tian and followed behind her aunt.

Back in the other Wang family household, Wang Guitang was lying on bed, resting his injured leg. His wife, Zhou Xiuying, lay next to him with a plaster on her. She had been complaining about a sore headache the entire day and refused to get out of bed.

Wang Lianxiang was reluctantly cooking in the kitchen. She started the fire while preparing the food. Her third brother was a private school teacher, thus his family consisted of cultured and noble-mannered people. She couldn't compare to them. As for Second Brother Wang Liansheng's family, they used to be the easiest to pick on, but they suddenly turned from a little sheep to a big menace, especially Ling Chengyan…

Wang Lianxiang couldn't help but shiver when she thought of how she had been single-handedly thrown by Ling Chengyan.

She decided it was best to just stay away from Ling Chengyan and her children for half a day.

Qu Cui led Xiao Xing into the East Court and almost stepped on a pile of chicken poop. She was fuming from the dirt and trash laying around everywhere.

"All of you are so lazy. Do you not know how to clean up?" Qu Cui criticized everything while on her way inside, her voice loud enough for everyone in the East Court to hear.

"Eldest Aunt is here!" Shao Darong came out of the kitchen with a rice spoon in her hand. There was porridge dripping off the spoon.

Qu Cui frowned in disgust and waved her hand to Shao Darong, signaling her to go away. She didn't need such a woman to greet her as she pushed the door open and walked in.

"Sister-in-law, where are you?" Qu Cui stood in the central room and called out with a frown.

"Eldest Aunt!" Instead of Zhou Xiuying, Wang Lianxiang came out.

"Where's your mother?" Qu Cui's frown grew deeper. Wang Lianxiang was already a big girl, but she didn't understand proper etiquette at all. When her Eldest Aunt arrived, the silly girl was still chit-chatting in the courtyard. Wang Lianxiang had clearly heard her voice, but she still didn't go out to greet her elder. Even after she'd entered the house, Wang Lianxiang still didn't appear to greet her. The girl only walked out when she shouted.

Truly, she was uneducated and mannerless. Whoever married such a person would have big troubles coming their way.

Wang Lianxiang stammered and avoided looking at Ling Chengyan, who was following behind Qu Cui. She slightly turned her head and said, "My mother said she had a terrible headache, so she's been lying in bed all day..."

Qu Cui didn't wait for her words to be finished and immediately pulled Wang Lianxiang along with her as she lifted the door curtain and entered the room, "Sister-in-law, you can still get up, right? Get prepared and come with me to visit a few houses..."

"Sister-in-law, my head hurts..." Zhou Xiuying didn't even look up. She covered her forehead with her hand and mumbled.

"Who doesn't get a headache or a fever once in a while? What are you being so dramatic about? It's not like you're missing an arm or a leg. Did you know that Xiao Tian didn't even have any milk? A child who's not even three months old can't eat anything else but milk. Don't you feel guilty as his grandmother? Hurry and get up, I'll accompany you to find a few nannies to take turns feeding Xiao Tian..."

Without giving Zhou Xiuying a chance to object, Qu Cui pulled her up. After forcing Zhou Xiuying to put on her clothes, they went out like a gust of wind.

Ling Chengyan was stunned by her Eldest Aunt's actions. When she came back to her senses, she secretly cheered for her. Eldest Aunt was truly mighty!

Wang Lianxiang was shocked by her aunt's power. Before she could come back to reality, she heard Ling Chengyan's instructions. "Steam two eggs and make egg soup with scallions. Bring it to me when it's done."

Wang Lianxiang trembled as she realized that Ling Chengyan had already returned to the East Court with Xiao Tian and Xiao Xing.

Zhou Xiuying was dragged to more than a dozen households before she finally managed to scout out three women with good milk to help feed Xiao Tian. When Zhou Xiuying returned home, she collapsed immediately on the brick bed and didn't even bother to eat.

She'd been pretending to have a headache before, but now it became an actual headache.

Qu Cui was too much of a bully. It was fine if she was shouting at her at home, but she didn't even give her any face when they were outside... She was just too much!

Wang Lianxiang had already been doing things for Ling Chengyan for a while, but she had been doing them unhappily and suppressing the anger and grievances in her heart. The very moment her mother returned home, she immediately came forward to whine, "Mother, you don't know this, but Ling Chengyan is just too arrogant. She actually ordered me to steam eggs and make egg soup for her. She's been treating me like a servant girl, Mother..."

"What did you just say? You steamed eggs and made egg soup?" Zhou Xiuying got up immediately. She didn't even care about the wet towel on her head that fell onto the quilt.

She had to have eaten at least three eggs. She had two eggs just this morning and three the next morning, which means she already ate five. What kind of daughter-in-law would eat this many eggs? There was no way of staying alive if this kept going!

Wang Lianxiang was unhappy that her mother paid more attention to the eggs and ignored her. She felt even more wronged and started to cry. As she cried, she said, "Mother, she's ordering me around like a servant. How am I going to face anyone in the future… Wuwuwu..."

Zhou Xiuying did not listen to her daughter's grievances. She slapped Wang Lianxiang and scolded, "You're dead meat. Why are you doing whatever she asks you to do?"

Wang Lianxiang was stunned as she looked at her own mother in a daze.

Suddenly, the sound of footsteps could be heard by the door. It was Ling Chengyan. "I'm here to fetch hot water."

Ling Chenyan didn't even bother to look at Zhou Xiuying and Wang Lianxiang on the bed. She picked up the only kettle on the table and left.

Wang Lianxiang felt wronged. After being provoked, she suddenly gained some courage and jumped up to chase after Ling Chengyan.

"Oh, nice timing. I forgot to tell you just now, but go and wash the urine. Make sure it's clean and doesn't have any stains." Ling Chengyan stopped in her tracks and ordered Wang Lianxiang, who had chased her to the door. Her expression was calm and her tone was flat.

However, Wang Lianxiang who was initially like a ticking time-bomb, suddenly lost all her courage.

Silently following behind Ling Chengyan, she walked into the East Wing to replace a few urinals, then carried them out in a basin to be washed.

That night, Zhou Xiuying's family didn't sleep well. The precious daughter of the family, Lianxiang, cried all night.

The next morning, Ling Chengyan instructed Wang Lianxiang to steam the eggs and make egg soup, two eggs each as usual. Xiao Tian's stinky diaper that had been changed last night was handed over to Shao Darong, who had come to watch the fun.

As for Ling Chengyan, she took the two children to the main house, bringing the fabric they bought yesterday. She asked her aunt to help her cut and sew the fabric. They started off by planning to make a double-layered jacket along with pants so that they could change into it whenever the weather starts getting hot.
