"Ouch!" I shout rubbing the back of my head turning to see Miranda glaring at me.
"What was that for?!" I shout.
"Because you're a dumbass!" Miranda growls before going to observe Building C.
"And?! Since when is that news!" I shout, getting a silent chuckle from Tony, Maurice, and Linda.
And with that, the sun sets and silence reigns...
I decide to test a hypothesis while everyone is sleeping. I go down the ladder and hold my breath as my foot is one step from the ground...
*Step*
"Huh... Maybe I need to get closer?" I wonder aloud, before setting both feet on the ground and slowly slinking closer and closer to building C.
As I get closer and closer I start to feel a warm, humidity emanating from the open door and windows of building C, as if the building itself is alive.
30 ft from the entrance... I see the shapes of the sprinters silently moving in the shadows.
20 ft from the entrance... I notice a strange film lining the interior of the building, and its light pulsating movements are in time with the faint breathing coming from inside.
10 ft from the entrance... One of the sprinters listlessly moving around freezes before slowly turning to stare at me.
I gulp before continuing on to the threshold of the building where the sprinter who had previously noticed me darts towards me, and I angle my gun to blow its head off if my hypothesis proves incorrect.
As it nears me, it freezes when it's a few inches from my face. It begins sniffing the air around me as if confused before giving me a low growl. From this distance I can see that this zombie is actually still alive, as its skin still has color, its chest is moving up and down, and even though their veins have turned black, I can still see that they're still pumping.
After what feels like an eternity it leaves me alone and returns deeper inside the building. I breathe a sigh of relief before heading back to building E to wait for everyone to wake up.
While waiting I decide to talk to Pima.
'Pima, is it possible for me to give other's my viral conversion power or other abilities and mutations?'
[Hold on...] Pima tells me to wait and I do for about a minute.
[There, the answer is yesn't. ¯\_( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)_/¯ ]
'And what does that mean?' I ask internally rolling my eyes.
[I modified a system feature to allow you to grant others a form of your viral conversion skill. It will cost around 100 AVLP and all it will do is prime their bodies to join with the virus as yours has been, and you won't be able to direct their evolution like you can your own. Praise my awesomeness! ( ꈍᴗꈍ) ]
*Pfft* 'That is pretty awesome, but I'm not even halfway there.' I lament.
[Well you try and modify an all-powerful, reality-altering system without pissing off your boss! (╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻ Just kill some zombies and earn some AVLP you lazy bastard!]
'Jeez, no need to freak out, thanks for the help, Pima. Gotta go plan my next move.'
[Fine, go! Not like I care! ಠᴥಠ]
*Sigh* 'Don't be like that, I promise I appreciate what you do. But I got to get to work if we're going to survive this.'
[Oh... Then, get to it! ⁄(⁄ ⁄•⁄-⁄•⁄ ⁄)⁄]
And with that Pima is silent... I rest for a couple hours until the sun rises and everyone gathers in the main hall of the fifth floor waiting for me to get up and lead a meeting.
Day 3 Of the Apocalypse Callender
"Um... What is everyone doing up here?" I ask rubbing the crud from my eyes.
"We thought a morning meeting would be in order, so... Our supreme leader knows what's going on?" Don says, cringing as he calls me supreme leader.
"Oh, yeah... That'd be good, what's our resources and security at the moment?" I ask.
"Were down to about 2 days of water and 9 days of food, the good news is that the brainiacs devised a blueprint for drawing water from the river, we just need the materials. And the zombies seem to be silent so far, we don't know why though." Don answers.
"Hmmm… I think I have an idea about that… I think the fact that I'm immune or already infected made them ignore me but made them attack the rest of you when they returned. And I think they're keeping us here to act as a form of bait for either humans or more zombies, like how they hunted those zombies and gangsters from earlier." I explain.
"Shockingly enough, you're actually making sense. But if the only one who can go out is you, how're we going to get the supplies we need and how are we going to take care of that nest over there?" Miranda asks.
"Well… Do we need to be in a rush to get rid of them? Aside from their attack on building D, they've left us alone and actually taken care of several threats to our safety." I say.
"You can't be serious?!" Miranda exclaims in shock.
"Deathly so, I'm afraid, but regardless, we need to take care of the water issue first if we're going to make this a permanent base of operations. Do you know where those supplies would be and how I could get them?" I ask Miranda, forcing her to dismiss her disagreements with my idea.
"Hmph, there are a number of hardware shops in the area that could have what we need, but your best bet would be Hydrodynamics Inc.'s warehouse, it might take longer to sort the inventory, but everything we could need would be there, downside is that you would have to go through the streets or try and pass the highway to get to it." Miranda outlines our options as I weigh which would be best.
"Alright, I think I'll go to Hydrodynamic, they will have everything we need…" I say while thinking to myself, and it gives me a chance to check my friends' places.
