They finally said goodbye to the last guest at midnight. Rella wouldn't let Chloe leave until she swore to never tell anyone her secret and she was certain the noise they heard outside the door was just the wind because there was no one there when she went to check.
Stefan on the other hand was eager to get away from her.
"Why don't you help us clean it would be fun?" Christian said to his friend.
"That's what servants are for, it's what they are paid to do."
If looks could kill…
After he said that, Stefan put his hands in his pocket as he made his way up the stairs. Rella found herself watching him go, there was something about the way he carries himself that was fascinating.
"I don't think he realises he only has one help." Christian interrupted her thoughts.
"I don't think he realises anything that goes on around him." Rella said.
Poor Lacy the maid there was so much to clean up and it would be too much for one person to handle Rella was going to help her anyway but Christian surprised her by offering to help as well the invitation to Stefan didn't fall through.
The man was too arrogant for his own good, it just isn't fair that a man so good looking has such an ugly personality.
"It's late, why don't you spend the night, I'll have the guest room prepared for you?" Rella said two hours later after they were done with cleaning.
" You do not need to worry about me I have called my driver and he'll be here to pick me up shortly.
After Christian left Rella suddenly felt the need for some fresh air and so she went out onto the balcony. There was a full moon tonight but the little stars scattered across the sky was breathtaking sight.
She sat on the chaise lounge and yawned, she was bone tired but the night was too beautiful to pass off.
Let me rest out here for a few minutes. She told herself then tucked her arms beneath her cheek as she rested her head on the arm of the chaise lounge in no time she closed her eyes and fell into a deep sleep.
Stefan wanted to check in on her since he was aware both she and Christian stayed back to help clean up. He shook his head, what was wrong with her him? All these years he's always done things a certain way in his house and he always made sure the servants knew who was boss and then comes some woman out of nowhere trying to tell him what to do.
And yet he couldn't shake the weird feeling in his gut when he saw how disappointed she looked earlier.
He knocked on the door and waited.
Why am I even waiting this is my house and she's my wife. Stefan thought before he pushed her bedroom door open without hesitation. He found the bed empty.
"What is she up to this time?" He turned and saw the balcony door open.
A soft breeze blew the curtains this way and that.
Stefan found Rella asleep curled up in the chaise lounge. She look so pure and innocent lying there, her face was flawless. Stefan sat at her feet at the edge of the chaise and he found himself watching her sleep, found himself thinking her little snores were cute. She shivered slightly, almost unnoticeable but he noticed so he unbuttoned his shirt– luckily he still had another shirt underneath– and covered her upper body. A small smile touched his lips when she sighed and burrowed into his shirt.
Was it possible for someone to change completely after marriage? Stefan wondered. Was this all an act?
Rella Cortés was not at all like the woman he's heard so much about, even Christian speaks so highly of her and he never does that to anyone. Or maybe she's simply pretending and donning on an air of a respectable wife with hopes that he might forget what a gold digger she and her family were. She may have fooled everyone else around him but Stefan would not be swayed.
But as much as he despises her Stefan was raised a gentleman and so he picked her up, she instinctively wrapped her arms around him stirring and Stefan thought she was going to wake up but she snuggled into him instead. He eased her down into the bed and pulled the duvet over her body before he left the room.
