Chapter 65 - Cleaning up the scene

Two flowers bloom, each representing a branch.

While Armelia had only seen the result of everything that had just happened in a few moments, she had not seen, let alone noticed, the process. To really know what happened, we need to look at it from Thiago's perspective...

A few minutes ago, when Thiago saw the beautiful waitress being pulled towards a burly, ugly-looking man, the same as the one with the lecherous expression before, he did not act immediately, but waited to see what the man would do first.

In general, Thiago was not the kind of person to interfere in other people's affairs, but in this case, he was not about to let the man succeed in tarnishing her and doing who knows what to her.

Thiago was certainly not the best or most righteous person, but he had completed his nine years of compulsory schooling and knew the difference between right and wrong and would help in this situation if necessary.

Nevertheless, Thiago's morals had certainly degenerated since he came into this world, as killing no longer bothered him, but he still had great objections to forcing oneself on a woman, as such a thing was truly despicable and evil in his opinion, so the main reason he helped in this case was that he did not like what the men were doing.

So, when Thiago saw the man pull the waitress's head closer to his, he already had a premonition of what he was going to do, and he was right, the man opened his mouth slightly to get into a kissing posture, revealing a disgusting small number of teeth that looked as if they were half rotten.

Without hesitation, having seen enough, Thiago had decided to use one of his techniques in particular, one that was actually quite suitable for this occasion, as it would not cause too much commotion and mana fluctuation that might lead some of the cultivators outside near the tavern to notice something amiss.

The particular technique he had in mind was the Spirit Thread Conversion Technique, which had previously reached the minor achievement level, allowing him to attack with the threads formed by his mana, not that he couldn't do it without reaching that level, but it wouldn't be as easy.

Now, with ease, Thiago created a long thread that he could easily manoeuvre through the room and with breakneck speed, completely undetectable by the other people present, the thread reached the man who was still moving his lips closer to the waitress's lips, where it then sliced into his neck and came out the other side in practically no time at all.

The man did not even react at first and was still moving when suddenly his head rolled to the side and a huge fountain of blood gushed from his now open neck.

Before the other people present in the room could even react let alone cry out, their heads also collectively rolled down one after another in just the fraction of a second.

Now, you might think that Thiago is extremely cruel for killing all the bystanders except for the waitress and Li Wei, who, after a second or so, realised what had just happened and was looking at Thiago with his eyes wide open, showing his great shock and fear at the moment.

Thiago had acted on the principle of 'a dead man tells no tale', which translates as 'if you kill all the witnesses, there are no witnesses to your crime'.

One could argue whether this was necessary, but Thiago was sure of it, as he had no ability to change people's memories at the moment, so the only solution he had was to kill every person who had witnessed his killing just now. The reason he was so cautious was that he knew there was a possibility that he had killed someone with a certain background, and/or that some of the people who had been present at the massacre would report him to the city guards, who may or may not want to punish him.

And to keep a low profile for the time being, as he had no background in this city at the moment and not enough strength to really resist all the trouble that might come, as there were so many more powerful cultivators in this city that in their eyes Thiago was just an ant that could be crushed at will if they wanted to.

Thus, he had decided to act as he had acted just now, and he did not regret it. Although it had been his first time to kill a human being without having to unlike before in the forest where the hunters had been standing on opposite sites than him, but now he could have solved this without killing nevertheless he had still done exactly that.

Surprisingly, he didn't feel much after realising that he had actually just killed humans - it made him feel weird for a while, because he knew he should feel something about it, or at least he had learned that a human who killed another human should feel remorse and stuff like that, but maybe he was different in that way too, because he was a tiger in the truest sense, so maybe that influenced his thinking a little too.

What he did not know at that moment was that his decision not to leave any witnesses alive had actually saved him a lot of trouble, as some of the people present would surely have told the Blue Moon Hunter Group that he had killed some of their members in order to get a reward.

And even though the Blue Moon Hunters did not usually care much for their lower-level members when someone killed them, they would always seek cruel and violent revenge on the perpetrator, which in this case would have been Thiago, in order to establish their prestige and to deter other people from killing their members.

Thiago would surely have been surprised and lamented the fate he shared with the Blue Moon Hunters...

He had previously met a group of them in the forest when they were hunting the scorpinkey that had ended up in Thiago's hands, and those people had also died either because of the scorpinkey or because of him, so it was not the first time that Thiago had crossed paths with this group of hunters, and both times he had killed their members, it was truly an ill-fated fate for this group.

So now coming back to the scene. Thiago saw how Armelia opened her eyes only to see such a cruel and gruesome scene around her, which made her faint shortly after but not without catching a glimpse of himself.

But Thiago did not really care that she had seen him and would probably suspect him since he was the only one still alive besides Li Wei, who looked quite calm. Actually, that was all in his considerations, as he had not even tried to leave the scene before she saw him. The reason for this decision was, of course, that he felt that, firstly, this waitress would be grateful to him and would not tell anyone about what had just happened.

Secondly, he had already made arrangements and found something for which he could use this waitress, and it was just right that she owed him a favour now, so she should not be unreasonable and accept his arrangements honestly, or else...

Now that she had fainted, Thiago turned to Li Wei beside him, whom he had also left alive, of course, because he had been the first person he had met on his way to the city and he had actually had a rather good impression of him, and he also thought that with a little talk Li Wei should understand why he had done what he had just done and why he had been able to do it with his meagre strength of the outwardly shown first level of the novice realm.

Li Wei, who seemed extremely shocked at first, seemed to have calmed down already, which was really quite fast, indicating that Li Wei was not a person who had never seen bloodshed, or maybe even killed someone himself.

Thiago was not really surprised to see this, for he had already sensed that although Li Wei's realm was not high, and was even quite low, he was not an ordinary person, but a person of great perseverance and determination.

This was actually quite illusory, but Thiago has sensed these qualities in Li Wei from the first time they met until now.

Now seeing Li Wei recovering so quickly from this scene just confirmed his assumptions.

"Why did you kill even all the onlookers?" Li Wei asked indicating that he did not even question the reason for Thiago killing the burly man and his group, which also pointed that Li Wei's view on this matter was probably the same as Thiago's and he would have also liked to kill that man.

"Well, you know the saying 'a dead man tells no tales'? Right, if so, then my actions should be self-explanatory". Thiago replied seriously, and judging by Li Wei's expression, he also understood this principle and did not question Thiago about the reason for his actions after that, but he still asked a question that really bothered him somehow.

"Then why did you spare me?"

"Because I think you won't tell anyone about this, and also because I think you're a trustworthy person, and aren't we friends?" Thiago replied seriously, even though it was a bit far-fetched to say that they were friends, since they had only known each other for a little over two hours, it was still true that Thiago trusted Li Wei.

"Well, I guess you are right, and I thought too much."

"I promise not to tell anyone about this." Li Wei swore solemnly.

"Well, that would be great, but are you not interested in how I could kill them all with my low cultivation realm? Thiago asked curiously, as he had really thought that Li Wei would ask him this question, but it seemed that he had thought too much, and this question did not arise at all.

"Of course I am interested and curious about how you did it, but I think everyone has some secrets and there is no need for me to pry into them, so there is no need for you to tell me. Speaking of which, shouldn't you be worried about cleaning up this mess before other people come here?" Liw Wei replied, which made Thiago really appreciate him for being so considerate, even though it was really no big secret, it was just that he had hidden his true cultivation realm, but it was still better that fewer people knew about it, as it could always be a hole card for him, which could be useful in many situations that might come up in the future.

He also heard the last part of what he had just said and knew that he was right and that he should clean up this mess, which was not too difficult for him as he only had to put all the corpses in his storage room for the time being.

As for the blood splashed on the floor and the furniture, there was no need to clean it up, as it would not reveal any clues that would be useful for anyone to connect Thiago with this blood, no matter what.

The most someone could find out was that some people had bled there and maybe even died, but there was no way they could find Thiago.

Besides, the way Thiago killed them with the spirit thread left almost no mana fluctuations in that place. Since they were so small, they would also disappear in no time, making it an almost perfect crime scene.

A few minutes later, Thiago had put all the headless bodies together with all the heads in the storage space, leaving only a few bloodstains in the surroundings, which he did not care about.

Now the unconscious waitress was still lying on the floor and Thiago was just about to wake her when her eyelids began to flutter slightly and a moment later her eyes suddenly opened and she looked around in confusion only to see the blood red haired boy she had seen when she was about to faint crouching beside her with his hand in a position as if he was going to slap her to wake her up...
