Chapter 3 - Prelude {3}

*Boom!*

An attack suddenly appeared behind him, throwing him off balance. But he quickly regained his footing as there was a shield surrounding him.

After he stopped, he looked around and couldn't find the one who had attacked him.

"The Space Gem?" he questioned.

"Oh, so you guessed it. As expected of the Immortal Supreme," a voice replied, its sound emanating from all directions, making it impossible to locate the speaker.

The Immortal Supreme frowned. This was a really bad time, as he couldn't use the power of the gems right now since he had overexerted himself.

His cultivation had been lost, and his soul was in a weakened and vulnerable state.

'There's only one thing I can do at this point,' he thought.

*Swoosh*

He suddenly summoned an orb, and his soul entered it, speeding away from that location.

"Oh, you have a treasure like that, a soul shuttle? Haven't seen one in ages."

The Immortal Supreme did not answer and focused on reaching a safe location where he could recuperate. He had come so far and could not afford to lose at this point.

"Too bad I am not alone," said the voice again.

He had to call for help as he didn't want to engage in an endless pursuit. The object chasing him could keep up with his teleportation speed, and his mastery over the space gem of this universe was low.

*Crackle!*

A flash of lightning appeared in the sky and chased after the Immortal Supreme. It quickly caught up, and a violet veil blocked his path. He couldn't advance, no matter what.

He disembarked from the soul shuttle and looked ahead with a deep frown.

'Things have gotten extremely complicated.'

*Vroom!*

The sky turned violet as a mighty power bore down on him. The power was so overwhelming that he couldn't help but tremble. But not out of fear; his soul was on the verge of being destroyed.

"Who are you!" he screamed.

"Hmph!" A deep voice hmphed in disdain, and the pressure on his soul increased.

With a flash of grey light, a man with silver-colored hair appeared and smiled contemptuously at the Immortal Supreme.

"Immortal Supreme my ass! Look how weak you are. Peh!" he spoke with contempt and spat at the end.

"Calling you that is a disgrace in itself. What's the actual name of yours again... um, Arthur Nightingale."

The Immortal Supreme looked at him. Only a few knew his real name, and most knew him by his title.

Arthur didn't respond to him as he frantically thought about how to escape from here. But he couldn't help but feel despair at this point because the power holding him was one he couldn't fathom.

'Is he an existence on the Multiversal level? Or someone with a Multiversal Gem with greater cultivation and mastery,' he thought.

"I see you don't like to speak much." The silver-haired man spoke again when he saw that Arthur was ignoring him.

He wanted to speak again but went silent when he sensed a power restraining him and shut his mouth.

"Where are the gems in your possession? Don't try to hide them; we arrived just when you put them away," the deep voice suddenly spoke.

Arthur looked up and said, "Hey, isn't it polite to show yourself when speaking to someone? Or are you feeling shy? Hehehehe... such a mighty individual is sh....arrrgghh!"

He was suddenly struck by violet lightning similar to the lightning of destruction.

"You! I know who you are now. The Multiversal God of Destruction. You possess the mightiest power of them all with great mastery over the Dao of Destruction and the Gem of Destruction!" said Arthur through gritted teeth.

The pain he was enduring was countless times greater than the lightning dragons he had faced before.

"If you don't hand over those gems, you will face destruction," the voice spoke again.

The God of Destruction looked down on Arthur and felt he wasn't qualified to possess the gems. Even the God of Destruction himself had only one Multiversal Gem.

'But this bastard has three of them. What dragon-shit luck is that?'

He felt envious and dissatisfied. He was about to say something when three lights appeared in front of Arthur, blocking his power.

"The Time Gem, Soul Gem, and the Gem of Fate... Damn, he really has three Multiversal Gems!" the voice exclaimed in surprise.

Even though he already knew, seeing them with his own eyes made him shocked. There had never been anyone in history who had been able to gather three gems at once.

"Wait, what are you doing?!" he exclaimed.

His voice grew hysterical, and the God of Destruction was shocked to the core as he witnessed Arthur doing something that made him question his own eyes.

Arthur grabbed the three gems and placed them before his chest, and they began to glow brightly.

The silver-haired man widened his eyes in disbelief. "You can't be trying to fuse the gems, right?"

"Stop!" said the God of Destruction.

A man dressed in violet glowing armor appeared. He had violet-colored hair and eyes, with a lightning-shaped mark on his forehead.

"Are you crazy? You would cause an imbalance if you do that!" he said as he tried to restrain Arthur with his power, but it was dispersed by the power of the gems.

But he didn't mind, as he also noticed that Arthur's soul was breaking apart.

*Rumble!*

The clouds in the sky darkened as a light shone, and an eye suddenly appeared!

"The Eye of the Heavenly Dao of the Multiverse!"

The eye focused on Arthur, and the power that was trying to fuse the gems was restricted. Arthur screamed in pain.

He opened his eyes and looked at the heavens with a crazed expression.

"The Heavenly Dao? What a joke! These gems created you. How can you make them subdue?!" he exclaimed.

His words seemed to provoke the gems themselves, and they released a shockwave of power, resisting the Heavenly Dao.

However, because they were using Arthur as a medium, their power was not as strong as it would have been. Arthur was currently too weak to fully unleash their might.

The entire world began to shake...

The God of Destruction waved his hands and protected the silver-haired man and himself, moving away from the confrontation.

"Let's see how this ends. The Heavenly Dao is mad... now he won't be able to survive."

Space began to crack, and soon it shattered, creating a wormhole where Arthur was.

"What the? This is no ordinary wormhole. It could destroy the Multiverse if it goes out of control."

"It appears that forcefully trying to fuse the stones, with the interference of the Eye of the Heavenly Dao, has caused an anomaly," said the God of Destruction in shock.

"Let's leave. We can't remain any longer. Whatever happens, that guy is done for."

*Swoosh*

In the blink of an eye, they teleported away from there.

"Arrrrgh! God of Destruction! I'll get you for this!"

"Heavenly Dao, I will not bow!"

The opposing powers suddenly intensified, causing all nine universes to tremble as though experiencing a Multiversal quake.

*Boom!*

An explosion occurred, and Arthur was pulled into the wormhole, his fate unknown.

The Eye of the Heavenly Dao used its power to seal away the wormhole and prevent it from spreading. However, in the process, the world where the wormhole appeared was destroyed.

After a while, the Eye of the Heavenly Dao also retreated...
