Chapter 9 - Battle Ready

POV -----> Azur

I was expecting to find myself swarmed by other beastly 'Obstacles' but it seemed in the checkpoint where I encountered the winged being I couldn't be attacked because it was a checkpoint on the map where I could safely recuperate.

Although it turned out I could still be attacked by obstacles like the winged being.

I laid there slowly recovering and practicing my meditation and the little exercises done with it like the accumulation and release.

While meditating in my focused position and gathering energy, I could speed up the pace of my healing and I could slowly feel my body going back to its original strength and enhancing.

By the way, the pressure actually injured my lungs and impaired my vision that was why I almost died.

While meditating the Recurring Words that were far away from me began to come closer and revolve around me.

The Recurring words that I saw in a way that made them look physical and tangible were like plaques of stone with black calligraphic inscriptions upon them.

While lying down in my unusual meditating position I was able to see them very clearly, the more concentrated and immersed I was in my meditation the closer the Recurring words got.

I was finally able to make out some little dots in the far distance, the information I wanted could be upon them.

--

Three days went by and I was still on the floor meditating, I could breathe better and my energy was being spewed in such steady bursts that made me very sure I had attracted the mindless beasts on my route who were enticed by my flamboyant energy releases.

The information was still barely visible to me.

I could make out some words on it but I couldn't understand much of it.

If the info was available to me, my understanding would increase ten-fold and I would instantly get it.

But alas, the loophole I thought I could exploit on the Recurring words turned out to have its own insurance.

If they were that far, even if I could understand them in the least part, I wouldn't be assisted in understanding them, I would be forced to use my own head if I saw them and to be honest, Kudos to whatever idiot had the idea of doing this, he really made sure I was in a tight spot.

I kept on meditating but the information didn't seem to have any plans of approaching me any further.

-{… INTO ...…VERY ATOMS ...…}

It was hard to see more.

I simply gave up on that and decided to find info the way I thought others would.

I doubt other people have the Recurring words, if they did, someone should have brought it up along the way.

But it could be that it was something so common that it wasn't anything special enough to become a topic of discussion.

I hopped onto my feet and saw a few beasts trying their best to stumble into the checkpoint I was secluded in, then I saw the Recurring Words appear to me.

-{IRON CANINES; WOLVES WITH TEETH AND CLAWS THAT HAVE THE STRENGTH OF METAL}

-{SPAWNED GHOULS; UNDEAD HUMANOIDS SPAWNED BY A SORCERER WITH NECROMANCING ABILITIES, POSSESSING UNUSUAL STRENGTH AND SPEED}

I face palmed at the sight of the Recurring words,

"Oh, so now you show me information. Well anyway, it seems that my currently adept circulation has also developed you as well. You are making better sentences." I mumbled to myself and regarded the Recurring words like they were a living thing.

From what I understood there were blood lustful wolves and basically strong zombies in the mob of beasts that came for me.

It was very clear that the ghouls weren't normal, because I doubt anything that died here could even be considered normal.

They were mindless and hence stupid but they were dangerous none the less, for some odd reason I felt a burning desire to kill the ghouls more.

I initiated a new Gather and release method for attacks that I had thought up some hours ago, it entails me streaming in energy from outside straight to my fists so I could utilize them directly for attacks.

Although I would have little control over the energy, they were going to be instantly dissipated so it mattered very little anyways.

As the free-flowing energy was channeled into my arm and covered up from my elbow down to my fingertips the way it looked was completely different from what I expected.

I thought it would be the uncoordinated energy swishing around in spikes but it was more wavy and mild to the eyes although the surroundings around the energy still distorted slightly it still didn't look like much.

Putting that at the back of my mind I instantly sprinted towards the mob before me and delivered a melee strike to the head of one of the ghouls.

It felt quite invigorating and painful at the same time.

It almost felt like my bones were about to separate and collapse on each other.

The ghoul I had dashed at and struck did lose his head and fall but the strain it put on my arm was quite painful.

A few of the wretched and drooling mutts charged blindly at me, with a quick sweep I tripped them over.

I heard a few bone crunches and most were from the legs of the Iron canines but my kneecap began to creak and scrape against itself rather painfully.

I cursed to myself under my breath and continued relentlessly smashing ghoul heads and crushing mutts beneath my feet.

I had taken care of quite a few but there were more and more approaching.

The roar of my energy being utilized and replenished may have attracted more of them.

I retreated to the checkpoint grasping my now dislocated elbow.

I tried sitting down and resting upon a wall but the weakness in my legs made my bottom kiss the concrete floor a bit too hard.

I was covered in scratches, it was like I was being ganged up on. It got really boring fast and it was a whole lot more painful too.

I tried meditating in that position with my back against the wall since I was wary about lying down because I knew it could lead to further complications.

If I was lucky before, I wouldn't be lucky now.

It took quite a while to concentrate but I finally got back into my psyche and I saw the plaques much closer now.

Close enough for me to see and I immediately understood it all, well at least all about that aspect of energy utilization.

-{INCORPORATE THE ENERGY AND STRENGTHEN THE VERY ATOMS THAT MAKE UP YOUR BODY}

"I-It was all so clear. How the hell did I expect to survive if I only strengthened the attacks and not the object that was taking all the force. It was like swinging a wood piece with the force you would normally use for a sword, there was no way the wood wouldn't give way."

This was simply basic information on efficient energy utilization to me and not something I thought was too ground breaking.

So, I stayed there in that position, I initially tried creating two streams of energy inflow on all my limbs; one for enforcing myself and the other for strengthening the attacks but it was quite hard to maintain.

So, I went back to the single stream on each limb and used them for both strengthening and enforcing.

I felt the energy go into my individual atoms and fill them up to the point where I could feel the strength, agility and warmth that came with it.

The streams hung from my limbs like I was some kind of puppet tied together and manipulated by a marionette and before even waiting for the hastened healing to be completed I rose and blasted my way through a few beasts.

It was so fast that even I couldn't believe it.

I had so accurately burst through their vital spots, head, heart and all, and I felt almost no backlash.

The feeling was like finally getting that thing you failed at for so long that you gave up, I felt like the man on top of the world.

My joy knew no bounds and my tail due to its constant wagging managed to wiggle out of where I stuffed it while I wore a grin on my face and so wonderfully disposed of my assailants.

"I could get used to this. If I get outta this shit hole the first thing I want to do is get more efficient ways of learning this sorcery thing."

It seemed fun and what seemed to be the vastness of what could be learnt within sorcery seemed as limitless as the energy that freely flowed in the air.

I went further and further into the mob and I finally felt like I was overwhelming it.

Then without a warning the singular winged being appeared once more.

In the location where he appeared all the beasts around instantly dissipated into masses of blood that splattered everywhere.

I hadn't felt or seen him until he unexpectedly grabbed my tail and spun me around above his head.

No manner of enforcement could prevent me from feeling that pain.

It was like being kicked in the testicles and there was even pain in completely unrelated places.

Until the moment my tails bushy end slipped from his grip, I was feeling the rigorous spinning motions in what felt to be my kidney.

When I hit a wall with a heavy slam to my head which left a splatter of blood on the wall and a growing puddle of blood on the floor all the other beasts fortunate enough to still be alive began scurrying away.

The ghouls seemed to not even move until the winged being took some steps towards me.

The Recurring words were roaring in my head but I couldn't even feel my body so moving or running was completely out of the question.

Then he spoke in his disrespectful tone.

"What do you think you are doing mate!? That young dragon over in the next corridor would be done now if it wasn't for me making her to piss her pants by releasing blood lust, and you are here getting full of yourself over simple Enforcement. You disgust me." After finishing his sentence I felt a heavy wallop on my face which sent my jaw off my skull.

A very painful rip ensued, I would have been screaming out in shameless pain but my tongue got ripped along with it.

Tearing pieces of my cheek skin with it.

The pain should have been unbearable to the point that I would be writhing around but the concussion I received earlier seemed to make me unable to feel the pain completely.

-{CRITICAL CONDITION! DO YOU WISH TO EXTRACT 'BIBLIOTHECA'? Y/N}

Bibliotheca? What was that? and why now?

This beast was about to murder me and I couldn't do anything.

I had no alternative, I said yes to the request the Recurring words brought to me without much thought.

-{'BIBLIOTHECA' HAS BEEN APPROVED}

-{THE BODY OPTIMIZATION PROCESS SHALL BEGIN}
