Chapter 3 - Beginning

POV -----> Azur

"It worked for once, it survived all the worst environmental conditions on the planet all at once and it hasn't died after ten minutes of a return to a stable environment. Is this the point where I laugh out loud? or do I scream out 'Eureka'"

"Well either way I'd pass, best to start with this success before any further ill occurs."

Dr. Stein mumbled to himself quietly in a wide and gray room within his highly secluded facility.

The room is ridden with rather strange rodents, the result of his failed experimentation on rats and mice.

Some other beings were also present.

The most prominent of these weird beings was the thin and crooked dark and jet-black creature directly behind Stein.

In front of Stein was a human-like creature with a long thin tail with a bushy end.

The being's arms were rather long and reached up to a bit further than halfway past his thigh.

The being has long hair that's stringy and straight, in such a way you could see and make out each individual strand of hair quite easily.

It had its eyes and mouth sewn shut and it stood before Stein with an odd figure; arching his back slightly and bending his ankles and knees almost as if he wanted to match Stein's height, who he was indeed quite taller than.

This weird being was me.

Stein just stood there with a brown cigarette in between his teeth and both his hands in his pockets looking at the being before him with pride in his eyes.

In contrast to the other beings who peered upon the being before them with envy, jealousy, and probably hatred in their eyes.

"mmmmmmmmmmghhhhhh."

I, who had his eyes and mouth stitched would attempt to muffle something out trying to alert Stein that I needed my lips undone,

"Hmmm, you can also speak. I thought most times to achieve one new thing one must be disposed of. Success should have maybe taken thinking ability or maybe speech."

As Stein said this, he placed his palm on the stationary and crooked jet-black shadow behind him and it vibrated violently as if reacting to contact and the stitching on my eyes and mouth would slowly twist away and float in the air before joining back into the body of the crooked shadow.

"What have I done wrong, Sir Stein? Almost as instantly as I had realized my cursed existence in this new world you trapped me in various hardships without an idea of what I should have been doing. The arid desert, the frosty wastelands, the flaming threshold, the place with constant rain, and so on. Was there a definite purpose?"

I began to speak as soon as the thread was stretched off. The feeling of speaking felt as exhilarating as I thought it would be.

My eyes had a very interesting purple hue which I saw due to the reflective index possessed by the window behind Stein.

Outside it was nothing of particular fascination.

My outright and immediate ability to speak so fluently even after being rid of sight and speech for so long visibly startled Dr. Edward Stein and he grabbed his cigarette and let out a large puff of smoke.

It's uncertain if it was a sigh of relief or just him reaching his lung smoke limit capacity.

Replacing the cigarette, he would continue to speak between his clenched teeth.

Stein grew a very narcissistic look on his face and turned to one of the beasts that followed him and began to rant.

"Yeah, motherfucker! Yeah! Get it! Get some! Right up your fucking bitch ass, you fuck! Guess who just created a new success?! You think you could do that, Yagi? You think anyone but me could do that ever in a billion years!? Do you think if a god existed he could do it? The answer is no. If God exists, it's fucking me!" Stein said this while walking away.

A beast he had created which had been a prior failure and looked like a minotaur walked ahead, enduring the wails of Stein while the crooked shadow-like creature stayed attached to his shadow.

Behind a being with the lower body of a ruminant animal most likely a goat due to its inward-facing knees and had a torso of a man but with the head of a reptile walked on the left side of Stein.

I, the surviving humanoid creature with purple eyes walked on his right side.

I couldn't help but think it was like they were bodyguards escorting some very important person.

Once more a very ironic thing because the world would honestly be better with people who didn't abuse knowledge like Stein.

"Yes, Sir. I-I agree, Sir Stein." Yagi replied.

"While those dumb humans playing with Sorcery are flapping their parasitic turd holsters and wasting their time, I'm here breaking the fragile laws of reality. What do you think about that!?"

"I think you should know that when we are created beyond this realm, we are completely different people. After coming into the body and scenario you have prepared, it's like the original 'us' would die and this new personality would take over. It's hard to explain, but I know what I'm talking about." I interrupted and said with a confident voice, but it was clearly laced with small traces of confusion.

I said this because I possessed information about things I should have no idea about, it would be illogical to think that I didn't acquire it from somewhere.

"Hmmm. Like some kind of reincarnation or possibly even regression. We aren't in some fictional story from some crazy kid's imagination like the so-called 'Books Of Knowledge'. This is Reality. Now tell me your Name so I can document it."

Stein spouted with pride while holding his cigarette, every word that escaped his mouth was followed by white puffs of smoke.

"It can't be that simple Sir Stein. You must be doing something wrong for the universe itself to attempt to reverse or make a change to something that has already been decided."

"The 'universe' is a hindrance. It's too dumb to understand my ultimate goal. NOW, GIVE ME YOUR NAME."

As he said this the black crooked shadow behind him started vibrating violently once more and little pins and spikes would sprout signifying Stein's rage.

-{HOSTILE INTENTS}

"M-My Name Is Azur…"

Seeing the change in the physical features of the shadow behind Stein I was able to deduce that it reacted directly to Stein's feelings or command and according to the recurring chain of Words; he was dangerous.

Every fiber of my soul and body screamed out for me to run as far away as I could get from the shadow and Stein, but I knew it wouldn't matter much.

If I was correct, I didn't want Stein to end up using the shadow to attack me.

I was wary because a piece from its body was able to hold my mouth and eyes shut for so long despite all I had done to try to pull them off.

"Azur, Huh? That's oddly a good name. I think I've heard that name somewhere before tho. Anyway, I'll introduce you to my main freakish followers."

He said as he pointed to them.

"The one with a lizard head is Hoax, he failed due to the fact he couldn't survive in the hotter trials. The minotaur goat is Yagi, he failed because he lacked the physical strength that should have come with his minotaur build. He excels in the manipulation of energy to make up for that. The interesting black mass behind me is one of my personal favorites. He survived all trials with little complications, but he lacked the ability to think for himself, he had zero sentience. Like he was just some preset object until he touched me, after that he stuck himself like a leech to the back of me. Residing within my shadow. An actual beast, his name is Kage. I think that's all for now until you meet the other even worse failures. It may be best to not let you even come in contact with them, failure could be contagious. You are the closest we have gotten."

Stein further accented the fact that he has little to no care for the beings who he forced into existence.

It's even highly likely that the ones around his facility are the ones he failed to kill and just gave up on.

I looked upon Stein from behind as he walked away signaling for me to keep following him.

Leaving me nothing else but to wonder if this was what I'd be forced to put up with.
