Chapter 25 - The Rescue That Came In

Tan Weili wanted to say something in the face of Bastet's question.

However, just as Bastet's voice fell, a voice interrupted their conversation.

Set looked as if he had Tan Weili in the palm of his hand and said to Bastet, "No matter what this guy is waiting for, he has no chance!"

"You guys have been pestering me for so long just to protect this guy from my attacks."

"But... how does it feel to work so hard to protect someone you want to protect, only to fail at the last step?"

Set's words were full of sarcasm.

Hearing this, Bastet wanted to retort, saying, "When Horus makes his move, you'll know how to spell the word 'death'!"

But before she could speak, a gust of wind blew past Bastet's ear.

In the next second, Set was already in front of Tan Weili.

At this moment, Set was clearly in a much more sorry state than when the battle had just started.

However, in a situation where Bastet and Sobek were no longer able to contain him, Set believed that he would be able to kill the scourge, Horus!

Even if the other party was already much stronger than when he was just born, it would only take a little time.

Without any interference, Set felt that it would be too easy to kill Tan Weili!

However, just as Set was about to make his move, a strong light suddenly shot out from Tan Weili's back, straight into Set's eyes.

Caught off guard, Set's eyes were pierced and painful tears fell down.

He took two steps back, covered his eyes in pain, and roared, "Who is it? Who ambushed me?"

However, what responded to him was a heatwave that seemed to come from the depths of the desert and could burn everything down, leaving only ashes and gravel.

The next second, a floating ark rushed out from behind Tan Weili.

With a loud bang, it hit Set.

Set, who was hit by the ark, was sent flying like a kite with a broken string.

This collision had seriously injured Set.

At this moment, a proud greeting suddenly sounded from the ark.

"Set, long time no see! We haven't seen each other for more than a hundred years since you were sent to the human world by God Ra, right?"

"I didn't expect this, I didn't expect this! How could you do something as ugly as killing your own brother!?"

Hearing the familiar voice, Set struggled to get up from the ground.

Looking at the familiar figure on the ark, he said fiercely, "Anet, this is none of your business! Why are you helping Horus?!"

There was no doubt that the man who steered the ark with the power of strong light and heat waves to the battlefield was the boatman of the Sun Ark, the God Anet who had always served by the side of Sun God Ra!

Bastet and Sobek were fine.

Set knew that these two guys with mental problems had always been bound by some unnecessary ethics and morality.

This was the reason why Horus had taken advantage of their weakness and manipulated them.

But Anet was different!

As a god who only cared about benefits, Anet had always existed in a sinister and rational manner in Set's eyes.

This guy's inner darkness was not much worse than Set's!

Logically speaking, he should not be standing beside Horus!

Seeing Set's confusion, Anet laughed and said, "I'm sorry, Set! You might be wondering why I'm on Horus' side."

"Of course, as an old friend, I should support you. However, that kid Horus has given us too much!"

"So... accept your fate of failure, Set!"

Hearing this, Set's anger flared up. It even affected the wound on his chest that Anet had just hit.

Under the intense pain, Set spat out a mouthful of blood.

Even so, Set did not have any intention of backing down.

He said to Anet, "Anet, do you know why you are the boatman of the Sun God while I can be his guard and protect him?"

"Not only because I'm stronger than you, but also because you're more cowardly than me! Even if we are equal in strength, you will still think of running away because you are not as brave as me."

"And by doing so, the result is that you can't fight me, and you can't escape!"

"So, even if you can't beat me, you're still going to stay here and wait for death?"

Hearing this, the smile on Anet's face became a little stiff.

But at this moment, a scorching gust of wind suddenly blew over.

A dignified middle-aged man's voice came from behind Set.

"If Anet can't do it, what about me?"

"Shu?"

Set was shocked when he heard the voice.

As a former guard of God Ra, how could Set not recognize Shu?

However, he didn't understand why Shu, the son of the Sun God, the God of Air, powerful and noble, would participate in this battle.

And why did he come here so quickly?

The speed at which this guy appeared was as if he had always been nearby!

But before he could ask, Shu told the gods the reason for his trip.

"I'm sorry, Horus!" he said to Tan Weili. "As Tefnut has some opinions about you, she has created some trouble for you."

"I'm aware of this, but I think it's fine if it's just some minor trouble, so I didn't stop her."

"It's just that as my wife, I know that she has never been able to control the scale when she takes action. It's very likely that she will do something extreme... In order to prevent such a thing from happening, I've been following you from a distance."

"Thank the divine god, my judgment was correct. Fortunately, I followed you."

"Although I know that you have the power to defeat Set, this matter was caused by my wife. So, please do not interfere. I will deal with Set in this battle!"

Upon hearing this, Tan Weili showed an expression that said, "I knew it."

Counting the whole process of his arrival in the country of darkness, Bastet, Sobek, and Anet were all on his side among the gods who knew Tan Weili's whereabouts.

As the leader of the gods, Sun God Ra naturally disdained doing such dirty business.

Moreover, Set had killed Osiris and challenged the rules set by Ra.

In this case, the reason why Ra did not punish Set personally was that he was already old and weak. In addition, part of his strength had been taken away by the crazy Hathor, so he was unable to deal with Set.

It was impossible to get Ra to stand on Set's side!

In that case, of the remaining gods, only Shu and Tefnut could do it.

He considered the fact that Shu and he had a good conversation and that he did not like Set's behavior.

Therefore, the god who was most likely to expose his whereabouts to Set was undoubtedly Tefnut!

Even at this moment, Set was not afraid at all when he saw Shu stand against him to make up for Tefnut's mistake.

He said to Shu, "A son of God Ra and a boatman of the Sun God. You two together will indeed cause me a lot of trouble."

"But this is just a little troublesome... As the God of Power and War, I will not be easily defeated!"

In Set's opinion, it might be troublesome to fight Shu and Anet at the same time.

However, he believed that as long as he was willing to pay a certain price, he would still be able to defeat these two fellows. Then, he would be able to get rid of that little brat Horus!

Therefore, he did not retreat.

Hearing Set's stubbornness, Shu sighed helplessly.

In that case, he could only fight to the death!

However, at this moment, a black mist suddenly spread from the river.

Seeing this, Set and Anet both showed a shocked expression.

They had all followed Ra to the Netherworld before, so they could naturally recognize that this black mist had the aura of the Netherworld mixed in it!

Just as they were wondering who the god who had summoned this black mist was...

The crowd heard a goddess who was suppressing her anger say to Set, "Anet and Shu aren't enough to fight you, what about me?"

Upon hearing this voice, the gods instantly recognized the identity of the newcomer.

This god was none other than the Goddess of Magic whose husband had been killed by Set. She was Horus' mother, Isis!
