Jade parked the white Range Rover sports right in front of her house, as she came down she saw a lady sitting on the steps of her front door she hardly could recognize her mom she's always changing her looks now she look like a teenage with the color synthetic wig and heavy makeup with long nails one will think of her as those advanced strippers.
She closed the door hoping maybe this wasn't her mom she prefer the dark hair she was keeping years back long enough for her to remember she wasn't coming home any longer she can't rightly believe if it was, pressure or the hate she had bottled up putting it out on her settling on the reason her father is in prison is because of her maybe a little effort the jury would reduce it maybe thirty years or more but not for life.
She stood up jade hugged her briefly her perfumes were all over the place not like it was so attractive some sorts of cheap perfumes when she was young her mom always mixed different types of perfume with her theory of people can't tell the type she was wearing and is unique well she always thought of it right but now it seems way more worst to wear more than three different perfumes.
"What are you doing here mom," jade asked as she stood opposite her not intending on taking her inside, even if she and her mom haven't had a confrontation about a particular issue these two knew their relationship is strained, they hardly text or called even if jade mom tried to it always goes to voicemail.
"Are you going to question me outside, is that your car" she snapped out of the actual question jade wish she had not asked about the car.
"Not mine is someone I work for"
she dug the key out of her black bag inserting it into the keyhole, her house is just as she had left them the memory of her depression resurfaced it was draining, she put both the car key and her house key on the table, as usual, her mom went to the kitchen to get a bottle of chilled water she gulped it all jade drifting her gaze to her she must've been thirsty trying hard not think how long she spent at her front door, jade wants to know why she's here not ready to think about her reason, was it money or she's in any kind of trouble, well she always gets in trouble first-year dad had been taken to prison she had to apply as a bartender in one of the clubs like ten miles from home according to her she mixed up with some gang that was drugged trafficking in the club over a large sum of tips.
"I looked for you like crazy, went to TRUNTS they said you had quit two times no way you will ever be working-
Jade listen to her attentively as she spoke she didn't explain the reason why she quits TRUNTS. Her mom paused hoping if she has anything to say about it no avail she wasn't ready to talk the room became so intense and awkward, jade made it more obvious.
"You're everywhere on the news I had to come confirmed if that was true, those comments are nasty-
Jade had read and seen them bunch of netizens which she barely knows is going to talk about it nevertheless sooner it will be over.
"Yeah is true, is that why you are here? like you even care" she cut in looking up to her mom whose face fell,
"Are you going to blame me for it do we even have a conversation, all my calls right into voicemails and you wanna say I don't care-
"I changed my number mom, fine now" jade retorted, her mom became mute for like a few minutes no one spoke.
"How could you flop a bag like that over some dude, opportunity like that are hard to come by-
"Mom are you advising me right now, hold on is that why you are here to know if I'm still going to get the money or not well for your information I'm not-
"That's not why I'm here, I'm way older than you are so I know what I'm saying, you made a very big mistake you could do a lot with that money," she said, jade control her emotions not getting aggressive. Why is she only talking about the money she doesn't have any slight idea how depressed she was days ago.
"Like you would have done for the jury-
"Enough jade you had no idea what your dad and I shared I was dying alive in that relationship-
"And I'm supposed to believe you, you rather get the latest hair, nails did, body maintenance I'm not saying is wrong but during that time dad needs you what did you do, pretty sure you were happy he's doing life" jade knew she was out of the context it didn't bother her, if she had to go out of the context to tell her mom she wishes she had tried to get her dad out of jail then she would.
going to her room slamming the door so hard, her mom fidgeted with the bottle of water she was still holding.
jade was right she rather gets all these material things than pay for a good lawyer, she was still in her thought when jade open up again.
"You don't come here advising me on what I should've done or what not, the effort I mean effort coulda count right away you believe there is nothing you can do, you know dad is innocent you know this however you didn't sign up for that, you didn't sign up to be a mother not alone to be in a position to sacrifice" her mother did not utter a word, she didn't turn to look at jade she sounds so calm when she speaks but the words are as loud as thunderstorms, she's not going to go down that road a total reminder how she had been a bad mom depriving her of a father. Hoping she would stop as she went silent yet she rationally continue.
"You have to travel distance to confirm if online news about me was real or fake, or you wanna know more of which can benefit you-
"Enough!!!!" She yelled at jade.
"You only out pick the wrongs, the assumptions, your high school, your feeding, the rent, you only think the worst of me because you blame me for your father I'm I the reason he was mixed with bad guys or the night he put his hands on me because he thought I was cheating-
"And you weren't? he was upset you took money from that gangster what were you thinking that a man like that will offer you cash and don't have any intentions toward you, I think you should leave mom I just came in here to pick out some clothes anytime soon I will be leaving" jade wish she wouldn't interfere in the cheating matter because her father was an insecure matter of fact they didn't even trust each other because she felt her mom would've gotten her dad out of jail doesn't mean she's on his side most importantly the part lay his hands on her it was wrong and unacceptable she went back inside.
"You had made it known to me, I think about you every day I wonder why I couldn't just walk right into your crib not because I am scared is just that-
She whimpers trying to say the part that happens to hurt her the most.
"Because I didn't want you to throw it at my face, most of the time you didn't talk I leave it alone because the anger is more in your attitude than you way you talk, you not coming home not once weren't just the only sign you had chosen your part"
Like jade was still there although she knew she could hear her from the bedroom. She sniffles still holding the water bottle, it wasn't about the money the fact jade could accommodate him so quickly on the line without a blink putting everything on hold to make his ambition happen whereas she had prayed to God to bring the heavens on earth so her daughter could see how much she loved her even if her job didn't make her more like a good mom, she didn't love her dad for sure she loved her daughter never counted her as a mistake in as much as she counted him as a mistake and the worst thing that ever happens to her. Jealousy squeaks In hoping her daughter would've gone for the money instead and have the life she had always dreamed of as a kid, she didn't offer her much at least she make sure high school was in the picture and records.
One day she was in the kitchen throwing em pancakes in the skillet when she heard jade tell her father in the dining area which they shared in the kitchen area as well that she's going to have a big house with white decors interiors, she's going to get mom a killer wine cell so she doesn't have to go out and drink, once she archived that they will be very happy, she went over and kissed her on the cheek telling her she will be very appreciative if it was a whisky cell, the jade father is a nightwalker so he spends the rest of the day with jade, she put a smile on both of their faces every day even if they were a no good match for each other and when he found out she was pregnant he took full responsibility to be a stay home dad cutting off the beers with the homies to focused on his daughter.
"I can't believe you choose some stranger as your family, Clinton Abraham a dude who will cheat and stash you away as soon as it gets better are you going to sacrifice your time and effort for someone who you're not sure with-
"At least I tried for my love, what did you do for my father-
"As he deserves it huh, I'm going to leave, and if this is how you wanna do it fine-
She hung her bag right on her shoulder keeping the water right on the table jade knew she was leaving she can't tolerate her mom even if she tried.
"Whether you like it or not I'm still your mom either we fix this as a family or stay strangers I'm getting older with each day that goes by I don't wanna live like this knowing my daughter hates me" she took her bag and left, she wants to call her back but she couldn't, she's stuck can't even move an inch she head a car stops and zoom off perhaps she had left.
Jade picked up the clothes she needs to fold them into her box and switched off the switch that connected to the power controlling everything, she checked her freezer those products are likely to stay months without spoiling besides the past week she has been broken so no food Lokey dokey!!!!
She locked the front door and checked the time finding out she had spent more than five hours at home, she didn't drive home instead headed to the Amika Abraham mansion already knew is going to be messy going to her if it was for the sake of Clinton whatever comes with it is fine.
She never had known confronting her mom earlier today at least she spoke her piece, while she drove to the mansion the security guard asked her if she has an appointment she lied saying she's Clinton's girlfriend and Amika had sent her hoping he haven't seen the news going viral
On blogs, he recognized her from the last she had come well it worked he open up to her.
The house was very quiet the same housekeepers she had first seen when she got here did not look at her different perhaps they don't know the tea, one of the girls agreed to fetch her immediately although her face expresses sadness is just a day what could have possibly happen, jade couldn't sit down it will be more obvious if she kept on standing as soon as she wants to sit a voice echo from upstairs, not like the same voice she first heard from the most stunning looking beautiful woman.
"That couch cost more I'm pretty sure it could buy the entire TRUNTS" she dismiss them with the gesture of her hands as they disappeared into corners around the house, jade did not sit anymore nor did she say a word well the media ain't wrong she has an attitude problem well what do you expect from her to be nice to you after what her son and you had conspired you should have a little shame with the audacity showing up here.
"You still have the guts to show up here my bad I did not ask the security to throw you out any second they set their eyes on you, what brings you here jade Einstein" she finally acknowledged her, she have so much respect for her.
"I'm here on behalf of Clinton-
A slap came across her face she wasn't expecting it never thought she was going to lay a finger on her that was so quick jade held her face from the hardness of her palm despite the many manicures one will think her palm is soft judging by the slap she doesn't think so.
"Ever since you show up in my son's life it has been nothing but disaster, God knows what you have done to him making him lie to his mother not only that because of you he left home and you still have the guts to show up here, you have no idea about me or Clinton it will be best you don't interfere for your good leave before I embarrass you," she said turning to head back to where she descended from.
"Clinton has his ambition and he loves you-
"I don't recall you, suddenly you know of the son ambition I had known for over seventeen years when he always gets these toys of construction, homes and I will watch him build into something beautiful you think you had any idea" jade look very surprised she knew how much her son wanted to make this dream come to life yet she intentionally wants to blind it so he could change into something else like a filmmaker or writer.
"Seriously" jade gasped this is so not right Clinton genuinely loved her yet all she could do is not let him have his dream come true.
Jade gets thrown out of the house by security, she keeps struggling with them to let her go yet they dragged her out the other guy drove her car out throwing her car at her she watches Amika who was on the stairs.
"I need my floor mobbed and my driveway clear from bad energy and toxicity, I don't want to see anyone or anything that looks like her ever again".
####
While jade drove she kept hardly knocking the wheel of her car, she doesn't know if it was Amika or her mom she missed her mom so much fact she didn't mean any of those hurtful words all she did was remind her of something she would have done although she feels her dad didn't have a second chance he was out there without a lawyer the one provided for him couldn't be any less whack.
The traffic became so messy it was dawning on her she checked her phone Clinton had called her several leaving her a text to call him as soon as she's seen her car, she dialed the number it rang two times before he picks up,
"Hey, babe where are you"? He asked she knew he was worried.
"You're not gonna believe this," she said from her side of the phone her eyes on the road the traffic clicked green, she told him she was going to get takeout and then come over as soon as possible.
For the first time, he said "I love you" jade almost freaked out having no idea why it sound weird to her regardless she liked it, she was excited, and she responded to him with the same phrase as she hang up. She focused on the road taking a right turn to a popular restaurant within the area, inside was scanty and the cloud is beginning to form darkness is going to rain sooner august break is over the cold is back again.
She pointed out the food she needed, she's not going out tomorrow or having the luxury to argue on phone with the delivery guy about what food to bring, she wants to talk to her mom perhaps a real confrontation this time not her assumption, she unlocks her iPhone while they prepare her order she sat in one of the chairs, she went through her contact not able to see any contact that looks like her mom.
Is she so terrible not to have the number of the only person she has left, she tried calling the number she had years ago it didn't ring, out of frustration she didn't know what to do, so she dial her security code number.
"Hello evening" she greeted, is always easier with Mr. Goodman and this other worker who's on duty.
"Yes, pearl garden estate how may help you," he asked she could hear the dialing of computers in the background this is so dumps how is he going to keep track of women getting into pear garden estate?
"I'm looking for someone by the name Victoria she has...
Before she could finish he interrupted her.
"A lot of people come in here every day plus I just resumed evening duty you will have to pass the call to the head office they keep track of names," jade said okay, she waited for another two minutes the line was still ringing, more ten minutes had passed the phone still ringing as she was about to give up while she gave the waiter her card for the food payment the line finally picked.
"Evening how may I help you" is a female voice this time,
"I'm looking for a woman a pink hair, Faye skinned and with makeup-
"I can't get any clue concerning that look to make it easier for us both what's her name," the lady asked, she told Victoria she waited as she clicks on her computer,
"I'm sorry no name matches, what's your emergency perhaps that wasn't the time she showed up in the estate-
"Thanks, I will take it from here I appreciate your time" jade Hangup took her food put them in the back seat, and head home.
