"Aella."
Aella blinked her eyes open when she felt a cold palm on her shoulder. Squinting in the dimly lit room, she could vaguely make out the lines of Lumen's face with her bright eyes staring down at her.
"L-Lumen..." Aella tightened her grip on Bane's hand to ensure that he was still here with her. She didn't know when she had fallen asleep.
Apprehensively, she watched his chest and took a small breath when she saw the rise and fall that indicated he was breathing. She still had time. She still a chance to get him back.
"How is your wound?" Aella asked her friend as she got up from the bed to lit the candle by the nightstand.
"Much better. Apart from the dull ache that comes once a while, I can hardly feel it." Lumen's eyes travelled to the sleeping figure on the bed. "The Baroness told me about what the doctor said."
