Bane blinked his eyes open slowly and his golden orbs could barely be seen with the dim candle lights around the room.
Aella who had her eyes on him, the entire time jolted up. "Bane, are you awake?" she held his hands as she asked.
"I-I am fine." Bane uttered and his voice sounded weak which nearly brought her to tears again.
She had never heard him speak so weakly before and her heart ached just to see him in this condition. She somehow felt like everything was her fault.
Bane straightened up in the bed slowly and groaned with every movement. A huge bandage was placed across his chest to cover up the wound which was still in the healing process.
Lumen told her that the demon had used an immortal weapon, one that could cut through the flesh so deeply that even those who had the healing ability wouldn't survive it.
Taking the cup of water from the nightstand, Aella handed the glass to Bane who took it from her and drank the water slowly.
