"Father," Aella called after the silence when her father didn't answer her question.
Her heart was beating fast as she didn't know what to expect from him.
Why wasn't he answering? He surely heard what she said as his expression dropped but what was the meaning of the silence that was brooding by the second?

Her worries assailed when the Baron dropped his hand from hers and turned his face away. The light coming from the window next to him shone and outlined the wrinkles on his face.
Aella kept her eyes on him as he was staring at nothing in particular with a foreign look in his blue eyes.
Suddenly, she felt scared. Scared of what she was about to hear from him.
