Aella stood behind her mother as the interaction with Lord Mandeur began.
"Why, am I not allowed in my estate again, Baroness Meleena?" Lord Mandeur's voice rang across the quiet compound.
"As far as I know, we still have a week until the agreement is terminated," her mother said.
She couldn't see her mother's expression from where she stood but from the tone of her voice, she could sense she was tense.
"Well, let me say I got bored of playing a good guy so I came to take my property," Lord Mandeur looked down at her mother.
Aella felt her heart sinking at his announcement. He came to take the house but why? She wanted to say something but refrained from speaking for now.
"This remains my house-"
"Only if you can pay the debt you owe," Lord Mandeur cut off immediately.
Her mother stayed silent for a while because she knew that was impossible. Aella held her hand to offer her some strength.
