Chapter 8 - Knowledge beyond the present

When Jasper woke up, he held his head for a few moments before looking at Dimitri who also had the same pained expression on his face.

"Dimitri, tell me I wasn't the only one who dreamed that I had a daughter, and a couple dressed in strange uniforms cured her because she had leukemia.

Later, the dream changed, and everything became a strange musical. I can swear that I went through a whole life in the form of a musical."

Dimitri laughed and sighed. "You weren't the only one. I also dreamed that my son who is in the late stage of leukemia that was cured by that black-haired man.

I think his name was Killian…"

Shaking his head at him, Dimitri sat down in a chair. "At least your musical dream must have been like a Hollywood movie.

Mine was a journey from the October Revolution to World War II, all the soldiers singing patriotic music as we fought on the front lines.

The dream was quite hard, but when I went up with the Soviet flag in the German Reichstag and everyone sang the Soviet anthem, it was magnificent."

Dimitri then looked at Marta who was standing alone blinking quietly.

"Those dreams are because of your influence, or the protective suit has something to do with it."

Marta looked at them, and her red eyes lit up. "Analyzing… Analyzing… Analyzing…

This unit detected that their minds were synchronized with a possible multiverse for a few moments...

This unit detects that it is impossible to re-synchronize their minds with things that protrude from the dimension known as Limbo.

Checking for solutions…"

Dimitri stroked his head for a moment before looking at Jasper "Marta, I understand the theory of parallel worlds, but what is the limbo?"

Marta opened her hand, and then some spheres appeared. The spheres had galaxies inside.

"A long time ago, it was discovered that the universe at some point stopped growing. This phenomenon became known as the great discovery.

After analyzing the end of the universe, it was concluded that we were enclosed in a protective layer."

Jesper looked at Marta with some seriousness. "Wait a minute, why did the universe stop expanding?"

Marta shook her head to the side. "This unit doesn't know. The information in the database shows only that the scientists.

They concluded that the universe protects itself by sacrificing its infinite expansion for the ability to protect itself.

This phenomenon was investigated for many years but only came to the conclusion that the barrier was not to prevent us from leaving but to prevent strange things from entering."

Marta then appeared in her image of spheres of the universe some strange creatures which were gigantic and very scary.

The two men looked at the creatures and could feel primal fear for the first time in their lives.

"These creatures that can see were called as the devourers of universes. Thousands of drones were sent to the outside of the universe.

Just with the sole intention of investigating what was outside, the result was that those horrible creatures were discovered.

After analyzing them for… Error… it was concluded that they could eat universes that lost their protective barriers."

Jasper held his nose for a moment. "Why do they call the outside universe the Limbo?"

Marta turned her head to look at Jasper before showing the image of a girl with blonde hair and black eyes who was wearing a red school uniform.

"Records show that at some point in time a traveler from the multiverse came to our home by accident.

She called herself Marie. It was because of her stories that we realized the danger posed by the outside of the universe.

Her stay was short as she mentioned a threat known as Amatlein, a dangerous and conquering enemy with great ambitions.

Because of that, limbo was decreed to be a dangerous place and anyone's rights to leave the universe were completely blocked.

Because of the danger that this meant, it was possible to draw the attention of some creature from Limbo, putting the known universe at risk."

Dimitri who was processing the information felt that his problems seemed to be small at the moment.

"I understand the name and the danger, but how do you know about the synchronization we had with another universe?"

Marta, at that moment, appeared in her hands the image of Jasper and later divided it into hundreds of different copies.

"Marie explained that in the multiverse we all exist or will exist.

It is possible that a person in this universe can link directly with another counterpart, but that will only happen if the other part of him meets someone special.

The database is completely unaware of the meaning of special in the world of the multiverse, but scientists guessed that these are some people with something very important.

This unit can only tell you that you are very lucky since not everyone can manage to connect with their alternate versions.

In history, only 92 people achieved a successful synchronization and it is impossible to replicate the process.

Depending on the database, synchronization can bring great advantages or great problems.

Everything will depend on luck, but the gains include learning about different topics or special powers.

As for the disadvantages, slow death, mental problems that lead to madness or strange situations where individuals end up suffering for the rest of their lives are included.

In the end, the synchronization between avatars is a dangerous event but impossible to avoid or control, since it can only be seen and not interfered with.

This unit can only monitor your brainwaves while they are in sync and if it detects anything unusual, it will force the user out of sync state.

The chances of surviving only increase 10% but the more chances to live this unit will not last to save their lives."

Dimitri started laughing for a moment before ducking his head.

"First a trip to the sun, then arriving at a strange space station of unknown origin.

Lastly, synchronization with our doppelgangers in the multiverse, but if that wasn't enough there are dangerous things out there with powers to devour universes like peanuts.

I think I preferred to be in ignorance. At least we are real, or am I wrong, Marta?"

Marta stopped looking at the two men and stared at the wall intently, trying to look into the depths of what it looks at and cannot interfere.

"This unit does not know the answer and the available database information does not show an answer to that question.

But a long time ago a phrase was reached that could be... Error...

… What is real only depends on whether we see it with our consciousness. We cannot know something that we cannot see.

So we only exist as long as other people see us. The moment we stop being observed we disappear and depend only on our conscience… "
