The Great Calamity lunged at Erend with what remained of its strength, but its appearance showing nothing of its weakness. It still looked as terrifying as it had in the beginning. Every step it took radiating an overwhelming aura of dread.
For the first time, Erend felt fear seize him as the creature charged, its claws ready to tear him apart. His body was battered and broken, pain surging through him. He was desperate, clinging to the last threads of his will.
He couldn't let this thing win.
As the Great Calamity neared, Erend forced himself to calm his racing heart, his mind scrambling for any last-ditch strategy.
His breath came out ragged, his legs shaking beneath him as he planted his feet firmly on the blood-soaked ground. He waited, muscles coiled, eyes locked on the creature's advance. His instincts screamed at him to run and flee from the unstoppable force coming his way, but he stood his ground, his gaze still sharp.
Closer.
Closer.
