Chapter 49: Pearl earrings
It was ten o clock and the party had began downstairs. Melissa and Nicky were getting ready in the guest room.
Nicky wore a black bikin which made made her look terribly stunning. She let down a her and then grabbed a towel and bathrobe.
"I'm ready to go." Nicky said as she wore a pair of flip-flops.
"Me too." Melissa replied. She didn't were a swimsuit like Nicky cause there was no way on earth she would reaveal so much skin, and she had no intention of getting into the pool. Her plan tonight was to socialise eat and drink. Nothing more. So she just wore a plain white flay dress.
"Oh come on Melissa, atleast put in some effort."
"What? you don't like the dress?" Melissa asked.
"Yes, you know I've always hated it." Nicky replied to get an eye roll from Melissa. "Fine, but you can atleast add some accessories. Like a black belt and oh.. here my pearl earrings they'll look great on you." Nicky said as she went over to her bag, she opened it and took out a small black case containing pearl earrings. Her mom had given them to her as a gift when she graduated law school. They were really precious to her. But she wouldn't mind giving them to Melissa tonight.
"I can't were these, l know how important they are to you and also l barely were earrings."
"You barely do anything Melissa. Your wearing them and besides there clip-ons so they won't cause you any trouble you'll really look good with them on." Nicky insisted.
"Fine." Melissa said as she took the earrings from Nicky and wore them. "Happy?"
"Yes, you look gorgeous." Nicky said giggling. "Come on let's go."

Nicky and Melissa found there way to the back of the house. It wasn't hard due to the really loud music coming from there. When they got there they were recieved by an amazing sight. The place looked amazing. The water in the pool was blue as the sky and clear as crystals, There were cozy lounge chairs and colourful pool floats, there was a cocktail stand and also an ice cream stand there were a lot of party guests all in colourful swim suits. There were party games and lots more.
"This is crazy." Melissa said as she looked around. The place was so big and so much was going on.
"Yeah my type of party. This place is awesome!!. I'm gonna go take a dive in the pool. What are you gonna do?" Nicky asked
"I'm gonna go over there and get some fruits pops, have fun in water." Melissa replied and she and Nicky split.
Melissa went over to a stand just for fruit pops and after eating the third one and watching people have fun including Nicky who was busying enjoying herself in the water. She got bored. She decided to head back inside the house. The house was epic on it's own so maybe she could do some more sightseeing.
As she walked through the hallway leading inside, a hype up party guest roughly bump into her making her to lose her balance. Luckily there was a side table which she grabbed on to.
"I'm so sorry, you okay?" The party guest asked.
"Yes, I'm fine." Melissa said with a nod and smile assuring the party guest that she was alright. The party guest smile back at her and went towards the party.
Melissa proceeded walking into the house but stopped abruptly when she realised that one of Nicky's pearl earrings had fallen off. She panicked and began to look for it. The pearl earrings meant a lot to Nicky and she new it. She couldn't be so careless and lose it.
"Maybe it fell under the side table." Melissa thought and instantly dropped to her knees to look under the table. Still she couldn't find it.
"Are you looking for something?"
Melissa heard a familiar voice ask and she forgot she was still under the table a tried to stand up. You could only imagine how embarrassing it was for her when her head hit the table with great force.

Jeremy was heading outside to the party when he saw her. Melissa the beautiful redhead. But for some reason she was on the floor under a table. He suspected she was looking for something or why else would she be in that position. He had asked her a question but hadn't expected that she would have forgotten she was still under the table. And when she tried to get to her feet she hit her hard quite hard. Which made him rush to his knees to assist her.
"Are you okay?" Jeremy asked.
"Yes I'm alright thanks." Melissa said rubbing the back of her head. Her entire face red either with embarrassment or pain.
"You should be more careful." Jeremy said still on his knees. They were both still on the ground. "By the way what were you looking for?"
Melissa who was now staring up at Jeremy as he asked the question was lost in his grey his. Honestly she didn't hear anything he said because she was staring at his unique facial features. His grey eyes, hawkish nose, defined cheekbones and concrete jaw. She couldn't remember the last time she was this close to a guy. She could practically smell his cologne. He smelt expensive. He looked even more expensive.
Jeremy waited patiently as her eyes assessed him.
"Did l pass the test?" Jeremy asked with a smirk when Melissa noticed she had been staring.
"I was..hmm...l was just..."
"You don't have to explain yourself, l know what you were doing." Jeremy said.
"And what exactly do you think l was doing.?" Melissa asked in self defence.
But before Jeremy could reply they heard Steve's voice "what are you guys doing?" Steve asked with a smile. He still had the cast on his leg but wasn't with his crutches he was leaning on Tony for support.
Jeremy and Melissa were quite close to each other. But immediately she saw Steve she pushed herself off the ground and stood up. Her face terribly red. Now she was even more that embarrassed. She didn't say anything she just walked passed Steve and Tony.
