Chapter 1 - Prologue

Isn't it funny how one negative deed can wash away all your previous achievements and success? Particularly, people tend to alienate and criticize those who exceed. Making them the focal point of judgment and denying them their share of mistakes. Whether it be envy or anger, many tend to feel satisfied at the failure of those who are better than themselves.

Well, in any case, that was just an intriguing thought I had in mind. A shower thought, if you will…

The young student stared at the broad, intimidating gate of the prestigious Nouzan High School. Taking a closer look, he had quite attractive femine features. With long eyelashes and a curt smile, one might really forget his gender if it were not for his lean, muscular body of a track athlete. With quite the energetic move, he jumped across the imaginary line separating the school from the large road leading downtown.

Today was the opening ceremony of Nouzen High School. The unique freedom given to students could unsettle many. One of the most known features is the voluntary choice of wearing uniforms outside ceremonies. As a direct result, classrooms are often sprinkled with various vivid hues. One could wear all the extravagant jewels and accessories they have, dye their hair, get a manicure, as well as anything that allows them to freely express their character.

Another interesting aspect of the school was its tradition of allowing three representatives from each of the school years to speak words of encouragement to the students. The auditorium was packed with uniforms, dozing off to their newly accustomed schedule of arriving at the crisp time of 7:20 in the morning. After the cliched speech the principal solemnly delivered, the highly anticipated representative speech was finally about to begin.

Well… I guess it's about time for me to get on stage.

The announcer's notification rang with a familiar name, "Tomoya Kawashima of class 1B, please deliver your speech."

Upon hearing the notice, I walked up to the stage comfortably while slowly undoing my top button. While reviewing the contents of my speech, I unexpectedly found myself in front of the podium.

With a deep breath, I begin: "Honorable students, and esteemed administrative staff. As the representative of the first years, I am extremely pleased to be granted this opportunity. It's an unfathomable pleasure of mine to be a student of this prestigious school. With all that formality put aside, good fucking morning y'all!"

Upon the astonished gasping and hands over mouths, I grinned at the surprised looks of the audience. Exiting from the backstage, I found myself kidnapped by my homeroom teacher. Grabbed by the wrist, she led me behind the stage. With a clean appearance that indicated her mid twenties, she was quite young to be teaching at this school. Her timid eyebrows furrowed in an agitated manner. As if expecting me to speak first, she pointed her nose up and glared at me with a harsh gaze.

"Um… I wasn't expecting a romantic development with my teacher this early on in my highschool career?"

Shaking my arm off as she spoke in audible disappointment, she began: "Mind if you explain the contents of your speech just now?"

"Oh, so I went up, and then composed myself. After calming myself, I addressed the students as well as the teachers. I also expressed my joy to be accepted, isn't that great?"

She raised an eyebrow, forcing me to continue with the answer.

"And then I gave them my greetings."

"You gave them your greetings?"

I nodded timidly.

"You said good fucking morning."

"Well, in my fair defense, cussing during the entrance ceremony WAS on my bucket list…"

She shook her head in disbelief. After a significant while, she looked up and announced my sentence: "Go home right now, come back tomorrow with an apology letter."

"But it's the first day of school…"

Her burning gaze cut off my timid whining. I took a deep sarcastic bow before walking off.

Meloncholically, the young student crossed the imaginary line and now stands before his school. He stared at the broad, intimidating gaze of the prestigious Nouzen High School and slowly walked back home.
