Why are some of the titles question marks?
[Ding! 'Transmigrator' and 'Undying' are incomprehensible to prevent revealing the Host's identity. Fortuna, Goddess of Luck and Fortune, gave the Host a broad title, 'Entertainer,' which will not reveal the Host's identity as a person from another world.]
Why would Undying reveal my identity?
[Ding! The System refuses to answer the Host's question.]
This is the first time the system refuses to answer a question, and no matter how many times I asked the system, it kept repeating that it didn't want to answer.
For now, I guess I don't have to be worried about the other Appraisal users.
...
Hey, system. Turn your annoying side comments on and say I'm right.
[Ding! The system will occasionally reply to the Host if the Host's statement is true or false.]
[Ding! The Host needs to worry about the Appraisal users if he wishes to prevent trouble such as being assassinated, questioned, or locked up in a laboratory; Human beings are creatures with curiosity.]
I see. It's what you don't see that makes your imagination run wild. Understood.
Also, the room still stinks. Who the heck hasn't taken a shower in three months?
I used Appraisal to scan through the rest of the class.
Human... human... that's also human... and-
[Appraisal: Kim Haru, 15 years old Human. Title: Saintess.]
Didn't I use Appraisal on her earlier? What's with that title? Saintess? The Skill Appraisal was level two earlier, so that's why I didn't see that before, but what in the world is that title? What does it even give you?
[Ding! The Saintess title gives the title holder the highest level of healing Skill and the possibility of the Saintess holding the Skill, "Revitalization", is 100%.]
Great! Another overpowered Skill!
I can see the flag. She's going to be in the Hero's party, probably with the pink hair and the arrogant red witch too, and slaughter the Demon King. Everyone else in this class I used Appraisal on so far didn't have titles, except for the teacher.
[Appraisal: Heo Soomin, 38 years old Human. Title: Lie Detector.]
I somehow felt like this was partly my fault.
I shifted my eyes back to the flower vase in the room.
[Appraisal: Song Eun Sun, 17 years old Human. Titles: Spearmaster, Snotty Princess.]
Um... I hope she doesn't find out it was me.
[Ding! The Goddesses accepted the Host's title suggestions after a poll.]
The Goddesses are giving me too much freedom.
[Appraisal: Yamagata Kyou, 16 years old Human. Titles: Swordsaint, Pink Hair.]
Oh no.
Anyway.
Human, human, human, hu₥₳₦, human-
Wait a minute.
[Appraisal: Park Rhea, 17 years old Hu₥₳₦? Titles: Archmage, Walking Trashcan.]
The girl, Rhea, looked just like a regular human. If not for the staggering stench, her quiet demeanor could easily make people believe she was the class-president type.
Hold on. I didn't even notice her title. The Demon Worshipper is an Archmage? That title screams magic! How much mana does she have?
[Ding! Park Rhea has 87.26 mana.]
I might as well be dead. I can't even beat a single Demon Worshipper, let alone help the Hero kill the Demon King. I decided to move on from that disturbing fact before I got dragged into another pit of depression.
Walking Trashcan.
Does this show up for other people with Appraisal?
[Ding! Since the Host's name suggestions do not give additional Skills, they will show up on the person's Titles.]
My deepest condolences. I may have just ruined this girl's life. On the other hand, her life was already ruined after becoming a Demon Worshipper, so it can only go up, right?
My train of internal thoughts was interrupted. The entire classroom was filled with a bird-like "Cucoooo, cucoooo" call. Seeing the reaction of all the students, I'm not imagining things.
What was that?
[Ding! Reply to the Host. That was the call of a Mountain Rooster.]
"Class is over. Your next exercise is in the combat area #6 and it starts in ten minutes." Heo Soomin (aka Lie Detector) walked out the door after gathering all the files from the lecture table, leaving no room for questions.
That was the bell? Who's idea was that?
[Ding! It was Hu Jung-Lee's.]
I facepalmed myself, then asked the system the direction towards my next destination. I felt like I'm going to faint because of Park Rhea. I have to get out of here fast.
I'm definitely bringing a gas mask tomorrow.
Before I could leave the classroom, I overheard a girl's conversation. "Did Miss Heo call that guy Nam Kyung? Isn't that the name of the guy who placed first on the entrance exam?"
"He got first in that brutal test?"
"Song Eun Sun was third! Too bad Song Hye wasn't in this class, then we would have the Song twins and all of the top three in our class!"
"By the way, I heard there is someone with an F-rank Skill in our class."
"F-rank? How did they get into the class with the elites from the entrance exam?"
Looking down at the yellow "F" on my uniform, I instantly knew who they were talking about.
Titleless idiots!
If they knew I had question marks titles, two U-rank Skills, and immortality, they'd probably pass out at my feet.
[Ding! Only 9.4% of people in Numen knew the existence of titles.]
That means if I did tell them about my titles, they wouldn't care anyways. The sheer ignorance of these fools…
Immersed in my own thoughts once again, I strolled through the hallways following the blue see-through arrows on the ground. I haven't noticed many differences between this academy and the school I went to during my time on Earth... except the whole shape of the school is a giant glass dome and was surrounded by short buildings as the perimeter. I say glass, but I have no idea what that translucent material was. I don't even think the dome was working correctly. Anyone can walk in and out through the thing from what I can tell by watching the students and the teachers.
The arrows lead me toward the exit of the education center.
I take back my previous statement; calling this place a forest is an understatement. It's the Amazon Rainforest you saw on National Geographic.
The arrows are still going. Heo Soomin said we're heading towards "combat area #6," which means there are at least five more. In what parts of a jungle are these located? Are there multiple combat sections?
Hiking over branches and stumps as the arrows lead me deeper into the forest, I saw a cube.
No, not a Rubik's cube, a box, or a building that's shaped like a cube. It's just a giant metal cube.
The dome raised some questions, but after seeing a cube that's as tall as the surrounding trees, I'm starting to show some concerns. But then again, nothing really surprises me anymore.
I "appraised" the students that showed up. Some with familiar faces were from my class earlier and some I'd never met before. They were either talking to each other about how their day was going or who was in their education class.
When the "cucoooo, cucoooo" ringed through the forest, a small rectangular space opened near the bottom of the cube. It seemed like a door had opened.
Like a baby chick, I followed the crowd in silence into the cube.
I have no idea what is going on, but if I'm going the wrong way, at least I'm not the only one.
The only light source in this cube was the entrance. A few seconds after the last person had walked in, the door slid shut.
I don't have a fear of darkness, but still, anyone would be scared if they suddenly couldn't use their eyes. Despite this, I didn't hear anyone panicking.
With a loud click, a series of floodlights turned on. Several people shouted "my eyes!". All the lights were pointing at a stage, with a familiar pack of muscles on top of it.
Son Tae's presence alone was enough to shut everyone's mouths. Through the deafening silence, his loud voice ripped through the whole crowd.
"Welcome, trainees!"
