Chapter 57 (Andrew's POV)
One black sheep,
Two white sheep.
One black sheep,
Three white sheep.
One black sheep,
Five white sheep…
Wait. Where did my fourth sheep go?
No. I did not sign for a new job.
But I was literally going crazy from doing nothing for almost a week.
The only entertainment I had was when Shawna and Nik were fighting.
But even that was getting boring, since they had the same arguments all the time.
Then there was one thing I was allowed to do. And that was cooking.
But I had to cook for all 3 of us because those two idiots were useless in the kitchen.
Now here I was, lying in my living room, counting black and white sheeps.
Like I had nothing better to do.
Because I had many tasks and chores that had to be taken care of.
But I was not allowed to do anything outside my own house.
So I was a prisoner in my own house.
Fuck my life.
That's all I can say
And let me tell you I didn't enjoy seeing Shawna's face every freaking day. Not even one bit.
Even when she thought we were together, - which we never were! - I saw her only like 3 times a week and even then the third time was too much for me.
And now add that asshole Nik to the mix and you get the picture of how miserable my life was right now.
I just wanted out. But how in hell could I escape without putting Vicky in danger?
I tried coming up with a plan.
So basically those two idiots took every way of communication from me.
Except…there was a walkie talkie in the laundry room.
But there were a few problems.
The first one was that the other walkie talkie was in my mothers house. And I had no idea if it was still working.
And the other problem was that laundry room was right next to my home office.
And Nik liked my home office very much. I guess he liked the alcohol more than my office though.
So I had to find a way to get him out of the office first.
Then find out if the other walkie talkie was still working.
And last I had to pray to anything and anyone that comes to mind, that my mother would be somewhere near it.
Then let's start with our plan.
************
Shawna was away at the moment. I have no idea where she was but it's not like I even cared.
She was gone and that's all that matters for my plan.
Now to get Nik away from my home office, I had to start the alarm somehow on the upper floor.
So I started thinking.
And came up with a solution.
I grabbed some matches and ran upstairs.
I opened the balcony door and just outside it I started to make a small fire.
I didn't want to have any real damage on my house but I guess I won't be able to get away without any damage.
The idea about the fire came to me when I remembered Knox telling me one day that my windows and doors were wired to the alarm in a way, that if a fire was felt close to it, the alarm would go off and doors and windows would start opening on its own, to make an easier escape route.
Now it would come in handy.
Once the fire was firmly burning, I grabbed the basket that was full of dirty laundry and ran downstairs to pretend like I was putting clothes into the washer.
A few minutes later the alarm really went off.
And not a second after Nik came running out of the office, clearly drunk already, at 11am.
"What's going on?!"
He asked me. I just raised my eyebrow at him and showed him the basket still full of clothes.
"If it's not obvious, I am a bit busy so go check for yourself if you want to know. Or don't. I don't care."
He threw me one last ugly look before he ran upstairs.
The second he was out of my sight I ran towards the walkie talkie that was hidden behind all the cleaning supplies.
"Mom, mom, can you hear me?"
At first my question was met only with silence, so I tried a few more times.
I knew I didn't have much time, but I had to try.
I had no idea if Knox went over the footage or not. All I knew was, no one came around to help me and it's been a week already.
After my third attempt I finally got a response.
"Andrew darling is that you?"
I was never happier to hear my mother's voice.
"Oh thank God. Listen mom. You need to tell Knox Shawna and Nik are working together. They are keeping me against my will inside my own house."
"We know hun. Just hold on tight. Knox has a plan. He will be there soon."
I finally breathed a sigh of relief. Help was on the way.
I turned over my shoulder and when I didn't hear anyone behind me I risked another question.
"How are my girls and boy?"
She chuckled at my words.
"Don't worry hun they are fine. They just miss you."
Suddenly I heard a much clearer voice behind me.
"They will miss you even longer."
And than a sharp pain spread through my head and everything went black.
