Chapter 50 - losing his mind

Chapter 49 ( Andrew's POV)

A few hours earlier

Ok. It was almost 3 full days since that asshole took Vicky.

Jessy did tell us where he could be keeping her, but she also said she doesn't know the exact location.

So what did we do?

We were trying to find his whereabouts.

Local police had been informed about everything, but they couldn't do anything until there was an obvious threat.

Like, seriously? What can be more serious or obvious that an asshole taking Vicky and my kids to God knows where?!?

I had no idea what was happening with her.

And honestly, I was starting to lose my mind and my patience.

I wanted her back in my arms.

To top off the situation, I blamed myself for everything.

Because I doubted Vicky and believed that assholes play she was in danger.

It was all because of me!

Damn it!

Why can't I do something right for once in my life?

Just once?

I was having monologues once again.

Me and Knox were sitting in a car outside the most possible grocery store.

And one second it was all peaceful and the next Knox almost made me lose my hearing.

"There he is! He is going inside the store! Pay attention you idiot! He has your woman after all!"

I knew he didn't want to be nasty but his words still hurt like a bitch. Mostly because he was right.

I was so lost in my pity party that I wasn't paying attention to my surroundings.

"Like you have to remind me."

Words were barely above a whisper but I knew Knox heard them, judging by his sudden stiffness.

"Damn man you know I didn't mean it like that. I am just full of adrenalin now that we finally found him. You know I want her to be safe just as much as you do. I love that woman like she was my sister. And she is good for you. She made you realize you don't have to be alone for the rest of your life. She showed you, you are worthy of love as well."

What touched me more than his words was the fact that I knew he was speaking from the heart.

"Yeah, yeah guys can we leave these mushy things for later? He's coming out. We need to follow him at least until we find the right track through the forest. I know Vicky said that once you're on that track you only have one road leading to the cottage. So wherever he goes we just need to hide and wait a few minutes before we can follow him."

We both nodded at the same time.

And so our journey began.

But it was like he was leading us on a treasure hunt.

We went all around the town and it looked like he realized we were following him.

But I didn't care.

What mattered to me was Vicky's safety.

After a few hours of driving around, he finally turned on a trail that looked completely abandoned.

It was barely visible and I think it served him as a nice shield.

Because people would never think this train was being used.

Only him and the three of us.

Like we talked we waited a few minutes then we followed him.

After about half an hour we found our destination.

We were just going through the plan once again when I suddenly heard a gut ripping scream that made my heart stop for a second.

But the screams did not stop. They were louder each time.

And that was my breaking point.

I had enough.

I wanted to have her safely in my arms again.

I ran to the door and broke it in even though Jessy and Knox were shouting my name.

I ran inside calling Vicky's name, but I got no response, so I went with what my gut was telling me.

I found myself standing in front of another door and I broke them off the hinges as well.

I was finally standing in the same room as Vicky.

But my terror was not over.

What awaited me shocked me badly.

Vicky was bruised and swollen, her eyes were barely opened anymore and she had obvious traces of hands visible on her throat.

Rage was boiling inside of me at the sight of her in such shape but suddenly I realized what I didn't see at first.

He was holding a gun to her head.

And my heart dropped momentarily but then I remembered.

We had a plan B.

Knox and Jessy were just outside the cottage, waiting for my signal.

We were even connected with bluetooth headphones.

"Ok Nik. Let's keep our heads clear. We can work this out. You don't have to hurt anyone."

I heard Knox and Jessy at that moment in my ear.

"Andrew we are on our way, we informed the police and told them not to use any noise, and I got confirmation I am allowed to use my gun if the situation comes to it. So let's get this party started!"

And it was game on.
