Bradley was nervous, really nervous. He knew something was going on and by Sam's robotic report, he knew it was big. His leg bounced up and down under the polished mahogany table and he prayed that this meeting would soon end. He would agree to anything right now if it meant being with his mate. The thought of Trishanna calmed and worried him. Was it the bond James had with the pup? Was that the link between them? Bradley wished that he had moved his pack sooner, then the pup would truly be his. He could have saved her from the monster of her old Alpha. Right there, he decided that he would officially make her his Luna. He should have never postponed it, then he would have the right to gouge out the eyes of any man that even glanced at her.
Martha pinched him to pay attention and with a sigh, he brought back at least a part of his brain to the documents in front of him. They were proposing a merger, and if the numbers were accurate, it would mean great profits for his business. He glanced at his secretary for her female intuition and at her slight nod, he clapped his hands. "Gentlemen," he stated, "your numbers look promising. If it's okay with you, I would love to go over the contract with my team and get back to you within the week." Everyone stood, smiles on their faces. This merger would also be good news for them leading to larger contracts. They shook hands and as they left, Bradley shoved the documents to Martha. "Send this to the team so we can wrap this up as soon as possible. Oh, and call the plane, tell them we're on our way so they should get ready". Martha nodded and they got into the first car as a light rain began to fall, closely followed by his security in the second.
There were no new leads to whoever tried to kill him, and it was frustrating all around. He leaned his head back, wishing that he'd never left his pack in the first place. He sent a quick text to the tech team and told them to create a proposal that would let him have all his meetings from home. He never wanted to leave Goldmoon again, and with Trishanna being close to giving birth, he and his wolf were getting nervous. If that news got out, they would be in danger as well.
Traffic was light so they made good time to the airport. Bradley had already packed his bags and had them in the car as he knew this was his last meeting. The pilot Jim was doing his last pre-flight checks and waved them in. Bradley sighed and pulled out his phone, wanting to hear Trishanna's voice, but the call went unanswered. He frowned and dialed again to no response. He called Sam, "Beta, where is my mate?"
Sam felt his wolf submit to his Alpha's tone, but he just rolled his eyes, something he could only do when not in Bradley's presence. "I left her in her room, why?" Bradley's grip on his phone tightened. "I'm trying to call her but she's not answering." Sam sighed, hating to be the bearer of possible bad news. "Alpha, the last I know is that she wanted to talk to Alpha James and then take a shower, as I didn't let her get a chance. Maybe she's sleeping after all the excitement of this morning", he offered hopefully. Sam guessed it worked when he heard Bradley's tired sigh, "Yeah, maybe you're right. I'm finished over here so we are heading back." Sam grunted. Bradley laughed at his friend's gruffness, "I'll see you in a bit." Before he hung up, he informed his Beta to let the team know to expect an email from Martha. With business concluded, he leaned back and waited for the plane to take him back to his mate. The sooner the better.
Unfortunately, the weather was not on his side. The rain became a heavy downpour and soon the pilot got the news that all small aircrafts would not be cleared due to the strong winds. Bradley groaned and cursed the god of the sky. He was sure that the heavenly being was being spiteful. The rain didn't allow them to disembark so they made themselves as comfortable as possible. He told Martha to take the sleeping cabin which was not that big, but it sported a full-sized bed and a small bathroom in the rear of the plane while he reclined in his seat. He was glad once again that he made the effort to ensure his comfort when he purchased and did the renovations of his plane. He looked outside and wondered if it was raining where Trishanna was as well.
Jim shook Bradley awake some hours later. Bradley didn't even know when he fell asleep, but the knot in his neck let him know that it was a while. He hid a yawn behind his hand and looked up at Jim. "What's the update?" he asked. "Jim smiled grimly, "Good news and bad. We were cleared for take-off, but a situation came up. A commercial plane has a problem with one of its engines, so they're circling to burn fuel before their emergency landing. Bradley bit back the groan. He was sure "Bob", the name he gave the god determined to keep him back was laughing at him. He cursed under his breath. "How long before we can leave?" Jim scratched his bearded jaw. "A few more hours. Guess there'll be a queue, but we're on it." Bradley just nodded and tried calling Trishanna again, but still no answer. He looked at the time and guessed she was back in bed. He left a voice mail telling her he was heading back. He hoped nothing else happened. Thankfully, "Bob" decided to heed his prayer as the commercial plane landed fine, and soon they were up in the air.
