Chapter 50 - Chapter 50

James was pacing in his office, nervously waiting for the report to confirm what his wolf said. There were no dreams of Trishanna in the last three days. It was the first time in weeks that happened, and that was a cause for concern. It calmed him and his wolf, to be with her in the dreams that he had, or was it dreams that they shared? It made him think that there was a chance for them to work things out. After all, she was carrying his pup. That alone made her worthy of being his Luna. Even if anything happened to him, he already talked to a lawyer from the council to have that pup be his rightful heir.

Richard came in, a look of, 'you're not going to like this' on his face. He sighed and sat in one of the chairs in front of James' desk. "I did what you asked, and you were right. Alpha Bradley returned home two days earlier than scheduled." Richard paused, knowing that his Alpha would hit the roof with what he had to reveal the rest of his report. With a sigh, he continued. "They spent the night together. I mean the WHOLE night. In fact, they both went to his room as soon as he got back."

James placed his head in his hands, ruffling his already untidy hair. His wolf could have sensed that something or someone had cut the only connection he had with Trishanna. What should he do? His wolf was growling and pacing in his head, calling him stupid for not claiming her when he had a chance that first night. Even if she had met Bradley after, their mating bond would have already been severed. The thought of running over there was racing through his head. Was there any hope? He still wanted the pup to be his heir, no matter what, but he also wanted to be the one to raise him. Could he ask the council for custody when he or she was born? I mean, what Alpha would want to raise another's Alpha's child? It's not like claiming the mother meant that he would claim the pup, right?

That thought caused James to shoot up from his seat causing Richard to jump. Wait, did Bradley claim Trishanna? He spun to Richard. "Was she marked?" he asked, swallowing a lump. From what he researched, marking her would be dangerous, and if he didn't, maybe there was a chance for him to turn things in his favor.

Richard scratched his head, wondering about his Alpha's mental state. What did it matter if she was marked on her neck or not? That Alpha made sure to mark everywhere. Wasn't James listening? "Well?" James urged. Clearing his throat, Richard shook his head. "Uh... no. she wasn't properly marked per se, but..." James cheer cut him off.

"That's great Richard. Thank you for your hard work. Now, if you'll excuse me, I have some business to take care of." James basically shoved him out of the door before locking it. Richard once again wondered if he was really okay and shook his head. He should talk to the guys about this. Maybe James needed a vacation or something. This whole Trishanna thing was taking a toll on him.

Meanwhile, James had dialed the number he's familiarized himself with over the last two weeks. "Lawyer's office" the nasal voice of the secretary answered. "Hi Natalie, could you put me through to Sid, thanks". Natalie obliged. Sydney Jones was the lawyer from the werewolf council, he's been chatting with. "Hey, Alpha James, what can I do for you today?" The middle-aged, wolf ran a hand over his balding head. Although not an omega, Syndey never really cut it out as a warrior.

"Sid, Trishanna got together with her mate." Syndey nodded, as if James could see him through the phone. "I see" he replied, not really seeing what was the point of James sounding, not upset about it. From their discussions, it seemed like he really had a thing for her. "Yeah, but guess what. Based on the info you gave, Bradley didn't mark her. Meaning that even though they got physical, Trishanna is still technically an unmated she-wolf." Syndey shrugged, "So...."

"So, this means that based on werewolf law, since she is unmated and carrying my pup, I have a right to demand her hand." Syndey rubbed his chin in thought. "You do have a point. That section of the law is old, but it is still very much valid. However, you only have a few weeks left to make a move, or else it won't work."

"I know, so this is where I need you to make a document, or whatever, stating that law and demanding that Trishanna give me the rights to my pup." Syndey smiled, the kind of smile that made you feel like snakes were slithering over your skin. "I know just what to do. Give me three days and I'll have something drawn up so binding, that not even the jaws of life could cut through it." They chatted a bit more, agreeing on Sid's fee and then they hung up.

James leaned back on his chair, feeling pleased with himself. He was sure that this would work and once it does, he and his wolf would have the woman they'd been craving. He just needed to be alone with her long enough so that the rest of his plans would work and with Sid on his side, he was sure that things will go in his favor.

Rubbing his hands together, James felt motivated and looked at the piles of documents on his desk. Oh, this had to be sorted out within the next three days. When he went over to Goldmoon and made his intention known, he wasn't going to waste any time doing paperwork. With this in mind, a new fire was lit and the Alpha got to work. He asked someone to bring him brunch, his appetite returning and soon rumors that James was in a better state whispered through the pack.

Richard heard of this and wondered what was going on. Guess only time will tell what was going to happen next.
