The thick air coated my skin as I felt a huge drift of icy wind brush past me It didn't faze I was used to cold. I stared in to the open sea as waves swished violently back and forth rocking the boat my stomache was in knots but it wasn't the sea causing this I knew that every mile we grew closer to shore my freedom would come to its wits end.
I held on the helm of the majestic boat while the crew chanted together is symphony my flew fiercely into the air as my rich silk pearl blue coat cooed its motioned it made me feel powerful for a moment in my head I was the captain of the ship the director of my life
A large pile of fish guts slung across the deck interrupted my sweet blissful day dream "enjoy your last supper your highness we're almost at shore" the dirty toothless pirate announced sniggering to himself like a little school girl,I rolled my eyes and sat annoying down on the steps. As I thought to myself he was right I thought to my self it is my last supper before my last joy ride my last glimpse of childhood before I'm sold of by my father his royal highness the king of Merida.
You see I'm not a spoiled brat I understand my and grateful for my families situation even though it has bought me this misfortune
The last year or so I have been living away from Merida in Covent far up north safe away from enemies who want to get back at my father for their past shall as I say .... Miscommunications.
They've been teaching how to become a 'Proper lady' and a true and righteous queen to my kindgom if need be however I have noticed that my father has been growing anxious over the last couple months for my future and kindgoms I can feel it in the fast paced letters in which he sends me of the weekly up dates of the manyyyyyyy suitors who are as he stated "at my disposal"
I never really took this quite to seriously more annoying really I'm only a teenager
But things took a turn when one Wednesday evening we got a knock at the door with three men waiting outside of the convent weheee men are never allowed to step foot they were the kings guards I'd notice that stance anywhere as the door opened timidly a loud horn blared in whistful manner quite impressively actually dooo doa doom'. MARYANNE THE THIRD WE ARE HERE TO ANNOUNCAE THE TRANSACTION OF YOUR ENGANHEMENT OF OF WHIC DIRECTING BY YOUR FATHER KING MOREEL YOU ARE TO BE E SENT HOME IMMEDIATELY TO MEET YOUR HUSBAND BY ORDER OF THE KING
My heart sank I never thought this day would come now flashback two months at sea and here we are now on the Merida as the boat entered the gleaming gates of Merida the sky looked different lifeless and pale hints or darks purples intertwined the water which once danced around was now still and cold
I felt goosebumps pieced my skin as something was off something was different maybe it was just the time passed maybe I remembered differently more cheerful and soft as we exited boat I was met will dull faces and mourning full souls I could smell smoke amongst the air and ashes slowly drifted downwards and met yhe curve of my eyelashes wear the rested something was clearly wrong the place that I was once mystical filled with creatures and veriictureie all across there was fairies and dancing no one ever went a day without a smile I was now met with angry children And overworked people there were no disrespect there was no singing no fairies no smiles just anguish and flames
I entered the carriage as we drove through the kingdom to meet with my father at the castle nothing was the same crops dying doves replaced with ravens I felt all the magic weakened I needed an explanation I couldn't wrap my head alright it was I gone for this long to grow naive and ignorant to pain and suffering my people had faced upon my departure
Finally, we entered the gates of my home a bit more anti climatic than imagined I figured there would be party and that my father would fall to his knees crying buckets of joy yet all I received was a hug
My father was warm nice man however this did not match his exterior he was a tall Viking like bulky man his hair long and coarse his nose long and intimidating and a voice alarming enough to raise bats from their sleep
