I stopped for a second and then quickly resumed walking toward my class. I could always turn around later. I at least have to make it to class on time if I do choose to go to the classroom. Now, there was no time to waste.
I considered my options. If I sped-walked to his office, would I make it? No, even if I ran, I still wouldn't make it. Never mind, forget it, let's just make it to class on time. It shouldn't be that big of a deal, right? I can stop by during lunchtime.
With that decided I arrived right before my classroom door. I swiftly opened it and stepped inside. Not even two steps in, the bell rang.
Ding. Dong. Ding. Dong.
Phew. I made it just on time. I looked up and saw that nearly everyone was looking at me. Some looks of curiosity and some irritated looks. Most gazes, though, were half-dead. I figured the other gazes were related to yesterday. The half-dead ones, I could relate to. It really was too early to have class. The brain says no, yet my body moves towards my seat.
Vera saw and greeted me with bright eyes. I smiled back and took a seat.
I attepted to greet Kyril, too, but it was hard to do when he stares at the blackboard so intently. The thing was, there wasn't even anything written on it. I had a feeling he was avoiding me, though I may be wrong. Anyways, I hope the situation is resolved peacefully, I wouldn't want things to be awkward between us, that would be a headache.
I decided to look ahead, waiting for Mr. Archer to come in.
As soon as you think of them, they appear. Mr. Archer casually made his way to the front center of the class.
After exchanging a few pleasantries to start the day off, Mr. Archer immediately began his lesson.
Listening to him talk did make me somewhat sleepy, but I managed to stay awake.
And so, the second day of school began uneventfully.
…
Ding. Ding. Ding
Before I knew it, the bell that signaled the start of lunch rang. I gathered myself and was about to walk to the headmaster's office when Vera caught me by my arm and started energetically talking to me.
"Hey, Amelia! Let's have lunch together!"
"Oh, sorry, I must stop by the headmaster's office for a second. You can go ahead, I'll join you later," I replied.
Vera contemplated something before saying.
"Hmm, okay! See you later!"
I was about to question her about her brief silence but she quickly walked away after waving at me. Her silhouette blended into the crowd of students also headed the same way.
There she went, gone like the wind before I can even say anything. Sigh. It's fine, it's probably nothing of importance.
Right now, let's walk quickly to the headmaster's office and get this over with. I just hope the headmaster isn't mad at me for not stopping by this morning.
Hoping for the best, I made my way toward his office.
