Chloe looked at him with disgust written all over her face, "you look feeble" Dorian turned his head to look at her, "you also disgust me... don't expect any special treatment as well, I'll treat you like I treat everyone else," she said with her grey eyes fixed on Dorian's, "can you move around? I would like to get on with the whole tour whatever ASAP!" She said in a cold tone. "Y-yes I can," Dorian said as the girl's information was displayed by the nanobots.
Name: Chloe Meyers.
Age: 17.
Date of birth: March 12th, 2026.
Occupation: Nil.
Relationship: Nil.
Super powers/abilities: Frosty.
"She's younger than I am," Dorian soliloquized, "say what?" Chloe asked, "N-nothing," he replied, "good. Follow me. Let's go 'T'," she turned and left the room and her robot followed. 'T? Who the hell names a robot T?' Dorian thought and followed her immediately.
The corridor they entered was very dark compared to the room they just left. The corridor was lit from the white bulbs which were few meters away from each other in the ceiling. As they walked, he could see a square shaped screen on each side of him and he became curious of what it was. "What are those?" He asked in the most polite way possible because he didn't want to upset her, "you're suppose to be the smartest of everyone here due to the nanobots, but turns out that you're quite dumb." His attempt to not make her angry was futile, instead, he was the one getting angry because of her outrageous behavior.
After several minutes of walking in silence, they got to the end of the corridor and were now facing an elevator, but unlike every normal elevator, this elevator had no buttons, instead, it had the same square shaped screen that the corridor wall had. An idea struck Dorian and he decided to test it out. 'What is that?' He thought and immediately, he received his response from the nanobots.
'SCANNING'
'SCANNING COMPLETED'
'The object before you is a security fingerprint scanner. Would you like more information?'
'No,' he thought. He smiled and whispered to himself, "nice," but Chloe heard, "do you enjoy talking to yourself or you are mentally not okay?" She asked him as she placed her hand on the security fingerprint scanner, "neither," Dorian replied, frustrated.
The elevator door opened after soaring upward for about a minute or two. They entered a very large circular room, the ceiling was so far away that for a moment, Dorian thought they were in a cathedral. There was a big door at a corner of the room and smaller doors which were inches away from each other, the room was dark and was only brightened from the light of a chandelier. Dorian looked around very amazed by the sight but drifted back to himself when Chloe's robot, T, nudged him on the shoulder. He followed Chloe to the opposite door and stopped when she did, she placed her hand on the door and a glass tube was brought down from a small opening in the ceiling. She walked into it through a glass door and Dorian followed. As soon as they entered, they were lifted up at top speed by a circular glass beneath their feet, and within few seconds they stopped. Right now, they were facing an elevator door which opened immediately to accommodate them into the biggest room in the building, it was brightened by the ray of sunlight coming in from the windows and the ceiling looked ligneous. There was a big glass door at their right around the far end of the room and opposite it by their left was a bar. "Hi Chloe. Is this the new kid?" The bartender, a muscular guy covered in tattoos greeted as they passed, "hmm," Chloe hummed in response. Dorian took this opportunity to put the nanobots to work once more as he scanned the lad.
Name: Jake Albert.
Age: 19.
Date of birth: June 8th, 2024.
Occupation: Bartender.
Family: Nil.
Relationship: Nil.
Super powers/ability: Fox mutation.
"Finally, someone has an occupation," he soliloquized, everyone he had seen had no occupation when he got their information and like everyone else, Jake also didn't have any family or relationship. Chloe wanted to say something but resisted the temptation because Dorian talking to himself was getting annoying but she couldn't resist any longer after Dorian asked the question, "have we been underground?" She rolled her eyes, "no. We've been in heaven," she replied sarcastically and walked faster.
"You'll need to get changed, go in." After these words, Dorian finally became aware of what he was wearing, all he had on was a white patient gown. Now that he knew what he was wearing he wanted to go through the door immediately and change.
'Move closer to the door'
The nanobots were helping and he immediately did as he was instructed. A tiny red light came on in the door and his face was scanned, the light became green and the door flung open with a female AI voice saying, "welcome Mr. Hicks," he walked in slowly and the door closed behind him. As soon as he entered, the lights in the room came on gradually until the last light was on. A small board dashed to his front out of no where with, 'please climb on,' displayed on a screen on the board. He climbed the board and 'getting measurement was displayed. After what seemed like a minute, he was instructed by the board to dismount and a holographic screen came on before him. He saw his body measurement displayed on the screen and underneath it was displayed, 'choose desired outfit, he saw a few selections and after about fifteen minutes, he left the dressing room in a black hood, black trouser and a black sneaker with white designs and sole. "Nice," Chloe said stifling a smile. (She likes it when people are dressed in black.) "Those machines and robots are great, they made this cloth right there and-" Dorian's sentence was cut short and he wasn't allowed to be surprised for long, "yeah, yeah... your hair looks shaggy but I'm afraid that'll have to wait, Mr. Patton wants to see you immediately," she said in a drooling tone, "oh... okay," he replied, "just go into the elevator over there and push the only button in it," Chloe said pointing towards the opposite direction as she scooted away. "Alright, thanks," he shouted.
Dorian walked into the elevator and pushed the only red button he could see and the elevator zoomed upward. "Ding," the elevator chimed as the door opened showing a long corridor with small windows allowing the entry of light into the corridor. The floor was made from polished wood and the wall was made of stone. He could see a door at the end of the corridor. He walked up to the door and knocked, "come in," he heard Mr. Patton's voice and he went in.
The office was warm and very welcoming, there was a huge flower vase on the table but there was no flower in it, there were various robots doing one thing or the other and the closed curtains made the office a little bit dark. "Oh, sit down, sit down, make yourself at home," Mr. Patton said, "I can see that Chloe is doing a great job," he continued, looking at him from head to toe. "So, the reason why I called you here now is because of yourself... well. Firstly, you'll be staying here for a while till we are sure you aren't going to break down any moment, and you'll have to charge the nanobots at least once every week, we have a special room for that, also, I've spoken with your mum and she has given you the permission to stay here for now." Mr. Patton explained, "mum? Can I speak with her?" Dorian asked, getting excited, "er... yeah sure," Mr. Patton said as a hologram popped up in the air from the table. After few seconds of loading, Dorian's mum was displayed in a kitchen like video chat, trying to cook something. Dorian was happy and he spoke with his mum for some time before she said she had to do something and ended the video chat. "There you go, so you can continue your tour now off you go." Mr. Patton stood up and went to a shelf, "er... Mr. Patton? Can I ask a question before I leave?" Dorian asked, "you already have," Mr. Patton replied laughing, "alright, hit it," "well... I just wanna ask, what am I exactly?" Dorian asked still looking at Mr. Patton, "you see... it's quite complicated, but just know that you're not a cyborg," Mr. Patton replied him, "oh. Okay, thanks," Dorian smiled and left. Mr. Patton sighed, "that was so close, good thing he doesn't remember what happened that night," Mr. Patton said to himself and picked out a book from the shelf to read.
