Chapter 1 - The Fox, The Gold, and The Monster

Fear the man whose hair seems to devour light, whose golden eyes pierce through the darkness, and whose complexion makes the Deities of the moon phases and sunlight envy him. For This man was Erebus, Primordial Darkness. For this man was Of the Arc. A Man who hath slain Noble houses and reaped Royal blood like grain. His Body that of a Man yet his soul is of a Dragon. Hear me well, This man's Lineage shall bring forth Nyx, Primordial Night and cast the world into Eternal black.

A Legend spoken throughout the ages of a Family that were sired by Primordial dark all but forgotten, a Family that was supposedly all but wiped out. A Legend that held truth, a Legend made real.

The Noble House Slayer, the moniker rose from the annals of infamy no longer than a month and a half ago since the Aru'sen Noble House was wiped out, home torn, destroyed, muddled in the scent of old blood, and blanketed by fire. And within their ancestral home's depths, an old tomb, splotches of dried blood, notes and journals torn, and an eerie message.

"I shall reap once more, for ye of the crowned blooded hath forsaken the vow thy kin- thine sires. Thou hast wronged a man who loves his family. And We shall take yours in kind."

Many took it as the works of a Maddened Ignis Mage who managed to elaborately destroy the Aru'sen Noble house and it's members in that morbid night. And who was to say it was not an Ignis Magus? As the Fire present was of magical nature and True Igni dragons were long gone in this age of Man along with the other True dragons but who would know what transpired of the Regicide as no one within the Aru'sen's land took notice of the attack?

(Greyfort Citadel)

The citadel's streets were busy, the smells of fresh sea salt and fish from the ports would invade the noses of those who were new to the area, the chattering of vendors at nearly every corner would almost deafen those who walked without direction, and the bright yet faded colors of the settlement would overload your sight. It was a quaint place yet it held darker shades, these shades taken in by the hooded man who walked around the area whose face had a certain darkness, a void which gave him a mournful look as he ventured even deeper into the citadel until stopping by a tavern, a quaint and busy tavern whose receptionist was half-beast kin, a fox kin if he was not mistaken. Her hair flowed an orange-pink waterfall of hair that stopped short before her waist, the clothes of an Eastern-Yura Blue Kimono with white accents and a black obi told him she was of a higher status yet worked here for she needed this job. He did not question her but greeted her with a nod.

"Welcome esteemed guest to the Nine tailed Tavern-mikon~. Your sweet fox kin servant, Aina greets you this evening! Pray tell. How long will my dear master be staying with us?" Her voice sounded forced all the while sweet as she gave the hooded man a bow. Strange, was all the man could think of as he raised all ten of his fingers which made the woman's eye widen and had he looked closer he would see the moisture building up on her amber eyes. He did however notice her hands shaking as she grasped her sleeves of the kimono she wore. He simply reached for the heavy pouch on his hip and took one of her hands to safely place the bag down on her palm.

She opened the pouch to check its contents a shining yellow met her amber eyes, 'Gold?!' she internally exclaimed as she shuffled the insides checking if it was all gold, and By the Grace of Ena it was! This man had offered too much, as a ten day stay in her tavern a single Gold Coin would suffice. She could not cheat the man, "Sir, are you aware that you have given me too much? I ask of thee to offer me a single Gold coin! I, I cannot in good conscience and By Ena's grace take these from you!"

[You have a choice youngling, heed her words or force her to keep it.] He sighed as he heeded the voice within him and began removing his hood revealing his mop of dark ash hair, his similarly amber eyes reflected with Aina's , and his porcelain borderline ivory skin which was unblemished, unlike his neck which was riddled with line and patches of ghostly white. He noticed the fox kin glow red and afraid to have offended her he bent his knee as he looked at her with worry. "Forgive this Lowly traveler but I cannot allow you to suffer." He noticed how her eyes began to water, had he made a mistake in his choice of words? [Knave, you've forgotten to speak your name!], "I am called Ozark milady, I do apologize for any words that I have let out that have caused you due distress."

Ozark was tackled into the floor by the fox kin as droplets of warmth landed upon his face. She was crying? Her form was over two heads shorter than himself and yet he could not find it in himself to move her as she cried. Something inside him stirred violently as he embraced the lass sitting upright for her to be comfortably in his embrace at a closer look at the fox kin she would have been the age of his... No, he had to put away. He needn't reflect over the past not when he had a mission to do.

It took a while before she had calmed down. Ozark was led to his room it was simple. A bed, a desk, and a good view of , his target's abode. "Sir Ozark might you be fa...mished.... I'M SORRY. please spare me!"

[Your glare as proud I should be, is too much for her, need you scar another child with our Animosity with "Them"?] The Ancient one cackled seemingly amused by the fear that was in the eyes of the girl, or perhaps it was reminiscing of an event similar when it was alive. He closed his eyes and laid on the bed resting but not dreaming as it brought more harm than good if he did.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Aina cautiously left Ozark's meal of soup, bread and spiced meat by the night stand afraid that she had angered her benefactor. It took a lot to hurt the lass as her tails were always chopped off and sold to the Ger'mayne Noble house due to its magical properties, she chose that life instead of becoming their [plaything] as her tails would grow back but her psyche would not. Spring a glance or two towards the small groups in her tavern she went to work unknowingly inviting trouble in the process.
