Chapter 39 - Only A Monster Can Kill Another Monster

"Burst of ice!" yelled out a woman dressed in a brown and golden robe, the conjured ice picks piercing through a monster, ripping its flesh and even dismembering some of its limbs.

As the pieces fell to the ground, the mage floated back, as expected the pieces reattached together, barely any blood had even dropped on the floor as the monster she had heard of in legends moved forward, jumping on the walls and ceilling with utmost precision and a speed even greater than before, landing a severe slash to her side, grazing against her left lung.

Before it could strike once more, she casted another spell, this time not even bothering with saying it out loud as she usually did to help her visualise, sending a large number of nail-sized metal spikes in its thin torso, blowing it back into the long corridor of this deserted castle.

She was the only one that remained, she stood by herself to deal with the monstrosity that was known as a venerer, it was hard to believe that this folk creature was here but it matched the description by all account, a featureless head from which could sprout a numbers of thing, dark claws on each of its five fingers, its height of about three meters when standing fully upright, its hand-like feet which also possessed dark claws.

If it was all true, this creature was here to, in the end, kill this very world and force it into a rebirth, meaning the end of everything that was, something none but the mad would wish for.

Using the distance she created, she flew through the corridors, almost ending up splattered on the walls due her dangerous speed, rushing toward a place where she believed, she would be able to bring it down.

She made sure to cast spells behind her to halt its advance, managing to get to her destination without being caught up to, she was deep inside of the earth, inside a gigantic room covered in ruins, every piece of this room seemed to be able to move like that of a clock, in the very center of it, on a pedestal, rested a crystal that shined a purple light.

Just after a few seconds, the venerer had also made its way inside but had stopped for a moment upon noticing the crystal.

The mage muttered something and the entrance closed off, leaving the both of them trapped inside.

The venerer was hesitant to act due to the crystal's presence, leaving plenty of time for the mage to cast her final spell, she grabbed the crystal in her hands, feeling like her skin flaked off upon entering into contact with the powerful artefact, the object seemed to be trying to kill her with utter prejudice.

She took a short moment to think of her next incantation, she didn't believe herself strong enough to summon an apparition of the strongest apostle, she would be best for that one but considering the writings on him, he would probably side with the venerer, taking her decision, she spoke out loud, causing the crystal to crack and emmit an enormous amount of power, the mage was completely filled with its energy and the wave it emmited around her completely blocked the venerer, the moment it tried to, its body would be taken apart.

"I summon thee, you amongst and perhaps, the most loathsome of the apostles, of the holders, come accomplish what you have to do!" she chanted with extreme difficulty, the purple crystal shined a bright orange and disappeared, causing the wave of energy to instantly dispel and yet the venerer didn't lunge forward instead moving backward.

The mage stood up and stared at her hands, ran her fingers through her hair before making a small noise.

"Well, would you look at that? I am back!" she spoke, the voice was the same as her but the intonation was completely different, the venerer had backed off not due to the strength of the new aura that was exuded from the mage but because it could clearly identity who this now was, they both resonated with one another.

"Ahahaha!" laughed the new owner of the mage's body, not taking the situation very seriously as they groped their own breasts.

"That feels weird to have tits..." they commented before turning their attention to the venerer.

"Well, hello there, I didn't think I would one day to meet a venerer in the flesh considering that I sort of died and all, at least I am not out of touch since I was only half-dead, you get what I am saying?" they spouted nonsensical words that only they could understand.

"The little mage thought that I was the most likely to do what she wanted but I really don't care much, unfortunately for you, even though I don't care, I am bored so..." spoke the holder of it, the mage's left eye seemed to melt, revealing her bones underneath her skin, replacing her eye with a bright orange flame.

"...I guess I'll be the first one to ever truly kill a venerer heh? It will sit well alongside my other title, Vlasfimia, Defiler Of The Holy and Slayer Of Venerer, ahahahah!" the psychopathic laughter prompted the venerer to finally move forward, swooping in on the defiler with extreme speed.

Vlasfimia simply stepped to the side, axe-kicking the venerer into the ground right as it went by, spattering its head on the cracked ground.

"Man, why do I get a basic one? Where are the ones that massacre worlds in two seconds? I could at least get a fuckey one, we could have related to one another in that aspect" uttered the defiler with a sinister yet slouchy smile on the mage's face.

"What's happening? I thought you could regenerate instantly?" the defiler then asked as they noticed the venerer wouldn't stand up or regenerate at all.

Suddenly, the venerer grabbed a hold of the mage's ankle, immediately regnerating as it swung the body like a ragdoll, aiming to smash it into the ground.

however, it suddenly felt like a weight was removed from its arm, the defiler was standing up right in front of its face, holding its arm in their right hand.

"So you gain stats everytime you get beaten into a pulp? That was quite a deal faster than before" commented Vlasfimia as they swung the claws arm, sending it right through the venerer's chest before grabbing its face in an instant.

"If you don't die when you die, make sure to tell the idiot up there that I apologise for defiling a world meant to be restarted, make sure to mention that I looked very sincere!" demanded the defiler as they slammed the venerer's into the ground, shattering it completely and causing the both of them to fall into a dark pit.

"It's hard to believe that we're both technically holder of it, I guess you are but a by-product though" spoke Vlasfimia as they stood upon the venerer's body.

The defiler kept on battering the venerer with nothing but physical strength for a while causing it to evolve at an extremely fast rate but it still couldn't compare against Vlasfimia, none of the mutation it underwent could help it even grazing its opponent.

The venerer sent its claws forward at a speed none should have been able to react to at all but its hand was simply caught by the defiler, stopped right in its track without any issue.

"Welp, you're getting a bit fast aren't you? I guess I should stop messing with you before you get too strong" spoke the defiler, the fire in the mage's left eye suddenly heating up.

"Bye~" spoke Vlasfimia in an irritating tone before a tower of orange flames engulfed the venerer, burning its body to a crisp, infiltrating its very being, overcoming its regeneration and not even leaving a single ash behind.

"Is it dead?" wondered the defiler outloud, they waited for a few moments and seeing nothing happens or sensing even a small presence or anything else, they concluded that they had been successful.

"Choosing me to incarnate inside of you body was probably the best choice but I think you forgot just what kind of person I am" spoke the defiler to someone who wasn't here anymore.

"It will be fun..." muttered Vlasfimia as they used their orange flame to burst out of this place, going on their way to do what Vlasfimia always did, what he had to do.
