Back in the restaurant, one could see a tall, well-built man in a long coat squatting down and tapping the unconscious Captain America.
"Captain Rogers."
Tap Tap.
"Earth to Rogers, are you there?"
Tap Tap.
Fury tried to wake him up, but to no avail; Captain America was knocked out cold.
So, Fury got up and walked toward the kitchen area and after a few moments of searching, he came back with a bucket full of ice and cold water.
SPLASH.
"Wake up Mother Fucka!! We have an alien on the loose!"
Fury poured the whole bucket on top of Steve's head, waking him in the process.
Steve jumped up and immediately assumed a fighting stance, looking around for Noah.
But after feeling a tap on his shoulder, he turned around and was greeted by the sight of Nick Fury staring at him.
"What happened?" Steve asked, looking confused as he surveyed the restaurant.
"You were taken out. I couldn't see how, but the alien somehow got hold of you, and before i know it, you were being slammed into the ground by said alien," Fury explained, placing the bucket on a nearby table.
Remembering, Steve touched the back of his head to find a large bump where Noah had slammed him.
"Where did the alien go then? Did we catch him or did he escape ?" Steve asked with hint on anger in his voice.
Hearing that, Fury shook his head.
"No, we haven't caught him yet. Denver took him away so the wouldn't cause damage to the city when they fight."
"As we speak, they should be flying somewhere around the Nevada desert. We tried to find their exact location, but our satellites can't keep up with their flying speed, so we gave up on that for the time being," Fury explained while working on something on a high-tech tablet in his hand.
"But why did she do that? We have an army of people outside armed to the teeth with cutting-edge weapons! We could've neutralized him on the spot if she had just brought him outside the restaurant!" Steve asked, placing his shield on his back.
Fury didn't answer his question this time. Instead, he gestured for Steve to follow him and began walking toward the restaurant's exit.
Upon leaving the burger joint, horror filled Captain America's usually calm face.
The army of SHIELD personnel brought for this mission was in utter shambles!
Bodies littered the ground, their arms and legs bent and broken in unnatural and cruel ways . However, none of them appeared to be dead; they were all injured, and their injuries had the potential to heal if taken care of properly.
Steve stared at the scene in front of him for a few seconds before looking back at Fury, attempting to ask him what the hell happened here.
But before he could do so, Fury had already pushed a high-tech tablet into his hand and clicked a button. A video started playing.
Holographic screens appeared out of thin air, showing multiple recordings of the area around the restaurant after Fury, Denver, and ten other combat-ready agents had gone inside to confront the alien.
Steve witnessed hundreds of personnel working diligently and ready to support Fury and his agents at any moment.
But suddenly, chaos erupted, and the next frame showed all the agents on the ground with twisted limbs. In less than a second, everything went to hell. Steve couldn't fathom how this could have happened. Did the alien have backup on standby? Or... No, it can't be!
Steve's eyes gradually lit up in understanding.
"Your expression tells me I don't need to explain how over a hundred highly trained personnel ended up in this state," Fury remarked.
"The way it happened and their injuries match those of the agents inside the restaurant. I suspect it all happened when we tried to apprehend him while he was eating," Fury explained as he reached for the tablet Steve held.
"He did all of this in like what? A second?" Steve asked, checking on an injured agent.
"No, even faster. He incapacitated everyone inside and outside in less than a fraction of a second !"
"And that was him holding back trying not to kill anybody. Imagine how fast he'd be if he attacked without restraint."
"Shouldn't we send help to Denver?" Steve asked, looking serious.
Fury's face hardened as he heard Steve's question.
Since the alien arrived on Earth a year ago, and after all the devastation he left in his wake, the shield has taken it upon itself to come up with countermeasures against the unknown walking disaster that keep popping in and out around the world like some kind of Ghost with nukes for attacks.
Shield top and lead scientists from all fields gathered in one room and brainstormed to find a solution to predicament in front of them.
And after weeks of hitting their heads into the table without avail they finally reached to a conclusion
This unknown alien has shownes powers on scales they never seen before
Not even the most powerful of the mutants called as Omega could do what he done
He powers simply Cosmic
And the only way to beat a cosmic power is to use one as well
So they had to use ....
The tesseract !!
And so they began the long processes of harnessing the powers of the cube
Minutes became hours and hours became months and in the end they finally made it!!
Weapons and suits of armors infused and made from the powers of the tesseract
Surelly with this kind of weaponry they can take care of this menace of an alien
In the midst of their efforts, they had stumbled upon Steve Rogers, the American war hero who had once sacrificed himself to stop the evil Hydra organization from doing the same thing that they trying to achieve.
from doing the same thing Shield is trying to do right now and Fury will be damned if he's going to tell the guy in front of him of him and his organization are doing and risk inside fighting because of it.
So he had to lie and stall for time until the three Quinjets full of agents decked out in the new weaponry chosen for this mission by him and his close friend Alexander Pierce arrived and took care of the alien.
So As Fury opened his mouth to reply, his phone began ringing.
Seeing this he reach for his pocket and grabbed his phone and answered while saying.
"Fury talking"
And to his surprise he heard Tony voice from the other side.
Tony had already left via his iron man suit shortly after Noah and Denver flew away from the restaurant.
He had his suit in the back of his trunk hiding in the shape of small traveling bag and after seeing both of Noah and Denver flying away he followed suit and went after them
but it was if he was in a place with bad signal because all Fury could hear is few words between and static.
Tony: " Fury! Hurry and move your ... [static]... Fro... [static]... City... [static].... [static]... That crazy Bas..[static].... Is [static].... [static]. Space!!"
Fury: " What? Tony is that you? Your cutting off, I didn't get anything of what you were saying!"
But out of nowhere, a distinct haunting whistle echoed throughout the city and beyond it.
At first, it was just a faint whisper, a high-pitched note that seemed out of place amidst the calm city.
Fury paused, his senses are alerted, as he tried to make sense of what is happening.
As the sound grew stronger, it transformed into a haunting whistle that seemed to cut through the tumultuous air. It was a sound unlike any other – piercing, urgent, and oddly beautiful in its own eerie way.
If Fury could describe it he will say it sounded like the whistle of death announcing it arrival.
Tony voice came out of the phone again but this time he sounded a bit clearer.
Tony: " Shit, its to ... [static]... Prepare for ... [static]... I repeat Prepare for impact !!!"
And as Tony finished his words it happened.
(BOOOOM!!)
A colossal explosion could be seen from the direction of the Nevada desert .
It was an explosion like nothing Fury have ever seen.
Fury had no clue back then, but Noah had unleashed a devastating attack. This assault imploded a massive chunk of the Nevada desert, sending an enormous shockwave carrying a colossal wave of dust and sand hurtling directly toward California!
To make matters worse, it felt like Mother Nature was playing a cruel trick. On the opposite side of the city, right along the coastline, the sea had turned into a raging beast. A gigantic tsunami was forming as a deep crack opened up on the ocean floor. It spewed out scorching lava, mingling with the turbulent water, creating a perilous surge heading straight for the city.
Just picture it: on one side, a massive wave filled with lava threatened to drown and incinerate everything in its path. On the other side, an enormous wave of dust and sand, equally menacing, aimed to bury anything that dared to stand before it.
It was a one-two punch of a disaster, and Fury found himself smack in the middle of this catastrophic storm.
In the midst of all this, the city was rocked by earthquakes like there was no tomorrow.
Buildings swayed in the wind, resembling palm trees in the middle of a hurricane. Skyscrapers had all their glass windows shattered or in the process of breaking, falling to the ground like deadly snow.
And right there in the thick of it all were Steve and Fury. Steve had his shield raised, trying to shield as many unconscious agents as he could from harm's way. Fury was frantic, clicking away at his phone's buttons, desperately trying to connect to someone at SHIELD to figure out just what the heck was happening!
They couldn't have imagined in a million years that Noah could be the cause of all this. I mean, sure, the alien was a formidable foe, capable of wiping out mountains.
But c'mon, there is like handful of Omega level mutants who can do the exact same thing
And Captain Marvel who is leagues a head of any Omega level is on his side and she will take care of the alien , right?
...
Right?
Fury finally was able to get hold from someone in the headquarters and he started asking question like crazy while the city around him is going to shit.
The person on the other side told him that it's better if he see what is happening himself and opened a live footage of the city from an eagle point of few.
And so Fury now was able to get a better look at the whole picture.
California is gradually being destroyed by earthquake waves.
And two calamities closing in rapidly.
One approaching from the dearest.
And another coming from the sea.
And the one who caused all of this was flying over what appeared to be a newly formed deep crater in the middle of naveda filled with lava, while what should have been Nevada's desert is now a scorched wasteland with volcanic eruptions all over.
It was Noah, floating over as if he were the pinnacle of all living things, a savage grin on his face.
"There is no hope." Fury murmured to himself as he found a wall to lean on and then sat down.
He can't even escape himselfs let alone the tens of millions of people who call this city their home
He then held head with both of his hand defeat.
His ignorant and ignorance has costed him his life and the lives of millions.
If only he was prepared better.
If only he had a better team.
If only he was able to make the avengers into reality.
But in the end would that made any difference?
He didn't think so.
From his phone, which lay on the ground, Fury could hear Phil Coulson's voice on the other end.
"Sir... we attempted to send a jet to get you out of there, but it's next to impossible. The entire U.S. is grappling with severe earthquakes. No jet can take off from any SHIELD base, let alone attempt a landing," Phil said, his voice filled with sorrow and frustration.
"Here, they're estimating that those two catastrophic waves are about to hit the city in less than a minute," Phil explained, his voice weighed down with gravity.
However, Fury remained silent, just sitting there, absorbing what might be his final moments on this green Earth.
A brief silence hung in the air, followed by Coulson's somber words.
"For whatever it's worth, sir, it's been an honor serving alongside you," he said as the waves drew nearer.
Fury replied with nothing, the weight of knowing that countless innocent lives might be lost due to his actions bearing down on his shoulders.
He leaned his head back, closed his eyes, and began counting the seconds until the impending catastrophe.
Ten... nine... eight... seven... six... five... four... three... two... one...
Fury braced himself for what he thought would be a painful end, but to his surprise, nothing happened.
Everything around him was just... calm.
Wait, calm?
Fury snapped his eyes open and quickly stood up, scanning his surroundings.
"What the hell is happening?" Fury exclaimed, utterly shocked.
The city around him had returned to normal, and I mean completely normal!
Streets were clean and undamaged, skyscrapers and houses stood tall, and it was as if a magician had snapped their fingers, and everything was miraculously restored.
"What about the waves?!" Fury exclaimed again, grabbing his phone to check if the same miracle had happened with the two disasters.
And to his astonishment, they had disappeared just like the chaos in the city, by some mysterious and unknown force.
Who did this? How did they do it? And when did it happen? All these questions raced through Fury's mind, but he had no answers.
After a while, Fury picked up his phone and said, "Coulson, send someone to pick me up. I have to go somewhere."
Coulson was in quite of roller-coaster of emotions.
He was shocked, happy and overall very confused.
But he swallowed all the questions he want to ask his boss and only replied with.
"To where, sir?"
"Nevada, i need to start negotiation with the alien and buy some time for us"
Fury hung up the phone and started walking toward steve , unaware that someone was observing him from a different dimension. This observer had their face concealed by a hood and was floating in the dimension's sky.
This unique dimension was filled with various elements—water, fire, and sand. The hooded figure had opened two glass-like portal shards in front of both impending disasters before they could strike the city, redirecting their full force into this alternate dimension, thus saving the city in the process.
With a wave of their hand, the necklace around their neck slowly revealed a shimmering green stone.
With another graceful gesture, the city returned to its state before Noah's reckless use of his powers.
But who could perform such a remarkable feat, you might wonder?
It was the Ancient One.
And she was furious.
