Chapter 46 - The next victim.

Oliver realized at this point that whether or not he liked it, he eventually would have to apologize to Jasper. Now they were all silent again, and Jasper was staring at him in a curiously expectant way.

"Alright then," he mumbled to himself, then he turned to Jasper.

"I wanted to tell you that I made a mistake suspecting you had something to do with Alex's attack, and I… also want to tell you that uh… I think there might be a chance I feel some regret, or um… penitence, I guess," Oliver managed.

Jasper's jaw dropped open in bewilderment, it was obvious he didn't really get what Oliver had said.

"Uh… I think what Oliver is trying to say is that he's sorry," Felicity said to clear him up.

"Really… So we're still best mates?" he asked Oliver, with a look of surprise displayed over his face.

"Well… I mean if you put it like that, then…" Oliver muttered.

"Then I accept your apology," Jasper said as a smile brightened up his face. "Say no more, buddy," he added.

Later that day, Oliver sat by himself in the empty class, wallowing in regret. He was still thinking about how he was forced to apologize to Jasper. He had never felt so infuriated and regretful as he was right now, and he just wished he never had apologized. But he knew that the deed had already been done, and all he could do now was to focus on the case at hand and on all leads he had, and to adopt Xavier's idea of building trust to gain the information he needed to finally solidify his evidence.

Oliver soon went out of the class to find out where Jasper was. As he was moving along the crowded hallway, he spotted Olivia coming towards him, but it wasn't she that drew his attention, rather it was the strangely familiar object she had in his hand. She was holding a necklace that had a black glittery locket, just like his. The necklace had a very identical resemblance to his own, and he remembered that he hadn't seen his for some days now.

Oliver quickened his steps to reach Olivia, as he was a bit convinced the necklace belonged to him. The black pendant necklace was his most priced possession, most likely the only inheritance he got from his late parents, he could not imagine losing it.

"Olivia, do you mind showing me the object in your hand?" he asked her.

"Sure," she said, holding up the necklace in front of his face.

Oliver's eyes widened with shock.

"How did you get my necklace?" he asked her.

"Your necklace?" Olivia scoffed, "What makes you think this is yours?" she asked him.

Oliver immediately thought of using the pictures of his parents inside the locket as proof that it was his, but he was shocked to find them missing when he opened it.

"The pictures are gone," he protested.

"Well that's because this one's mine, and here's yours," replied Olivia, as she brought out another identical necklace from her back pocket and tossed it at him.

Oliver opened the locket of the other one and saw the pictures of his parents inside it. His brows immediately knitted in puzzlement.

"How come you have another one?" he asked.

"I should be asking you the same question," Olivia replied, "I was told this beauty was one of a kind, and now here you are with an identical.

At that moment, some passerby side-bumped Oliver by the shoulder and he immediately had a vision. The vision was a glimpse of another werewolf attack. He saw a boy lying helplessly on the floor as the lethal beast of a werewolf stood over him and voraciously disemboweled him with its sharp lethal claws. A cold chill ran down his spine as he struggled to suppress a violent shiver. Someone about to become the next victim of the werewolf.

"Oh no," he muttered shakily as his eyes searched around earnestly.

He was searching for the person he saw in his vision, who was presumably the same person who had side-bumped him earlier, thus triggering the vision.  He didn't recognize the face of the person in the vision, so he searched for someone in a matching dress.

"What is it?" Olivia asked as she noticed the sudden change of mood and the panic in his eyes.

Oliver didn't seem to have heard her. He was on a serious search for a potential victim of a potential werewolf attack, so he could prevent it from ever happening.

Finally, he spotted someone at the far end of the hallway wearing the exact clothes that the victim in his vision wore. He immediately went after the person, pressing desperately through the crowd, while keeping his gaze above so he wouldn't lose him. Olivia also followed, she didn't need a soothsayer to tell her that there was a problem.

Oliver tried calling the attention of the person, but the person was far beyond his reach and the crowd was pressing hard on him.  Ahead of him now, another crowd of students gouged out of a nearby door, and Oliver immediately loosed track of the boy. He began to search all around for him, but he couldn't find him anywhere.

He reached the end of the hall now but still couldn't find the boy. At this point, he was completely out of ideas. The boy was nowhere to be found and time was running out. He soon remembered the place where the werewolf attack took place in the vision. He presumed that must be where the boy had gone. He immediately went through the door at the end of the hall, leading to the other half of the building that was still under construction, Olivia went in too. He started searching, one door after another.

"Oh my god," Olivia muttered shakily, frozen to a spot with her eyes widened so much that the whites show, greatly horrified by what she had seen.

Oliver immediately followed her entranced gaze. Within an empty room was the boy from the vision, lying there on the ground all covered in blood, with his guts ripped apart severely. He had already been victimized by the werewolf. Oliver felt goosebumps rising all around his body. It was such an ugly and horrifying scene to behold.

Oliver quickly went to check on him.

"I came late," he whispered to himself regretfully.

"Is he alive?" Olivia asked him with her voice edging with panic.

"He is, barely," Oliver said, "But I doubt he's gonna make it."

"Quick, raise an alarm, call for help," he told her.

Olivia immediately went out to the hallway, screaming blood murder, and in just less than a minute, the scene was crowded with both students and staff, all spooked with terror and trepidation. After a couple more minutes, the HCI agents were all over the place. After Oliver had testified what he had witnessed, Olivia called him to have a word privately. They both went to an empty corner.

"How come you knew what was going to happen even before it did?" she asked him, "You had a psychic vision, didn't you."
