Chapter 1 - A Peaceful Life

It was a bright morning in an exquisite room. White curtains dancing with a warm breeze, an astoundingly grand chandelier, and luxurious modern furniture—this breathtaking view greets Huiling as soon as she rouses herself.

Huiling gently robs her eyes, aimlessly yawns, and combs her hair with bare hands. She takes a moment to gaze at the heavenly ceiling, it brings her a smile.

Huiling stretches her right hand and grabs her glasses. Looking tired and messy, she wears her glasses and wears flip-flops with just her feet.

The door is opened, and Huiling's mood begins to change. The sitting room is in a chaotic jumble. Dresses and accessories are scattered. Some instruments block the way. Mugs of coffee and some papers are on the table. Huiling can't bear to see it.

Two doors open in neighboring rooms. "Good morning!" Isabel greets, "O-oh!" looking at the mess. "What the problem with you people?" speaks Clair irritatedly, "Which creature did this?" leering, and gulfs.

"It's us! Who else, you cabrĂłn!" curses Isabela. "Don't dare you to speak your speak alien language, you piece of sh*t!" Clair agues.

"It's not alien. You live in a jodido Costa Rica, seniorita!" replies.

"STOOOOOOOOPPPPPPP!!!" Huiling shouts. The two indeed stop talking. "If you keep talking nonsense, nothing will happen." says Huiling, calmly, "Let's clean up." They keeps looking at one another, grimacing.

"I said.... CLEAN. UP." almost bursting out.

Clair Brown. Freelance model, a famous vlogger, stylish, and a brat.

Isabel Dominguez. Freelance singer, a total performer, spirited, and a nut.

And lastly, Huiling Rong. Professional writer, a freelance tutor, scholarly, and a swot.

Calculating... SLIPSHOD.

The room is later clear and unmarked. Huiling, Isabel, and Clair share a large pizza at the table. "I still couldn't believe we all did those mess earlier. It was unreasonable, as for me." Huiling said. "Whatever. At least now, we can all now enjoy our breakfasts." Clair replied and takes a bite of pizza.

"Maybe because we're just exhausted at work right?" Huiling reasons, doubtfully. "Right! Right!" says Isabel and all fake their laughs. DENIAL. Clair says, "By the way, I have a shoot later, at the afternoon." "Oh! I also should get going soon. I have some gigs to take for granted." replies Isabel.

Huiling sighs, "It seems I'm the only one free this Saturday. I' don't feel like working on my novels today."

"Before everyone leaves." Clair raises her glass and smirks. "Cheers!" The three girls toss—Clair holding a glass of water, Huiling with a cup of tea, and Isabel with a goblet of wine.

On a set, Clair slays wearing a luring scarlet slip dress and a red coat. She looks around and people seem busy and nervous. "Sorry I'm late." says the man holding a cam. Clair walks gently and sits on the nearest gold throne chair.

"Miss Clair, you look stunning today. What's the secret?" the man asks and sets up the camera on a tripod.

"I know, Sebastian. I always look stunning." smiles and crosses her legs, "By the way, what time will we be done here?" raising her right eyebrow. He answers, "Not quite sure. But perhaps, we can get this done faster if we start now." Sebastian freakily smiles.

Sebastian begins shooting pictures. CLICK. Clair poses a series of winning postures. Her figure is undoubtedly tempting. The stretches of her arms and bending of her knees are much PERFECT.

The shoot is done and Clair wears a brown blouson jacket. "Bye!" says Clair, waiving to other staff of the set. She is filled with glee yet keeping up her poise. She modishly saunters until reaches the doorway.

Isabel waves from her car. Isabel smiles widely, but Huiling focuses on reading her brought book.

Clair leaves an affronted eye, "She calling me a brat, huh? Little bitch." gets into the car and opens the backseat's door. Isabel asks in a disheartened way, "You don't want to sit next to me?" and looks back at the front, "What's wrong with these people!"

Clair sits next to Huiling. She PLUNDERS the book, leaving Huiling stunned.

Huiling later shouts, "What's your deal!" breathing heavily, "I'm studying, little brat!" Clair awkwardly smiles and looks at the book, 'Make a Man Fall in Love With You'. Clair throws the book to Isabel.

The two teasingly look at Huiling. Huiling looks away in shame. "It's not as what you think, you know." Huiling depends. Clair replies, "Whatever." Isabel throws back the book, and smirks. Huiling uneasily catches, glaring at Isabel.

Isabel starts the car and turns on the radio. The long ride, under a bright moon, begins.

On the road, "Want some snacks?" Clair offers Huiling some cookies. "Thanks." and gets two from the back. "I want some too." Isabel demanding.

"You like it?" Clair asks Huiling. Huiling nods and smiles. "One time, I was whining in my room, and my mama hears me. She instantly gives me three dumplings." slightly laughs, "And they I stop crying, and she hugs me as warm as a grizzly bear." Clair gazes at her.

"I have actually a quite similar story." slightly laughs, "It's way back my high school age. I had a secret 'EX'- boyfriend." stressing 'ex' with air quote hand gestures.

"He was sweet and caring. Every time I feel angry, he knows how to calm me down. With donuts. Like donuts—their smell, taste, and texture. I love donuts so much. But sadly, we broke up for some reason."

"I'm sorry to hear that." Huiling softly replies. "Don't you worry. I moved one." sighs and smiles brightly to Huiling.

"Who says donuts?" asks Isabel, "GOING TO DONUT SHOP!" says lively.

Outside the donut shop, Isabel, Clair, and Huiling look satisfied carrying paper bags of donuts. "Thanks, Isabel for the treat," says Clair sweetly. "I never thought you have heart." Huiling to Isabel. "Worry not. I'd just add it up to your rent." Clair and Huiling change their mood to disgust.

The day ends and Clair lastly lays down on her fluffy white bed. She covers herself with a fleecy rose-tinted blanket, feeling heartfelt. It was indeed a great day, Clair on her thought. She can't stop smiling and giggling—like a real psycho.

Three knocks on her door. As she opens the door, a sleepy Isabel looks angrily at her and slaps her immediately. "Let others sleep." then leaves. Clair gawping.
