Damon watched her, she was human so her feelings for him would never be strong as his for her but when they mated, it would become different.
As much as he couldn't wait for that time, he also didn't want to rush her or make her feel pressured.
"You said marking bonds you to your partner for life but what happens in the case of a human mate? You people never grow old so what happens to you when I do? What happens when I grow old and die?"
"Ashley let's not talk about death yet. I just got to be with you again after one." He told her.
