Chapter 4 - The Diamond Ophidian

'It had a lengthy tail and a firm grasp that gave the impression that it could crush boulders. Jaguara was confronted by a large snake that was as tall as him, resembled a dragon without wings, and had a diamond mark on its forehead.'

Given that he is holding both Aries and Prose in his hands, Jaguara is having a difficult time dealing with diamond ophidian.

In an effort to strike the diamond ophidian, Lukas immediately attempted to cover his foot with wind boost magic and his hands with rock magic.

But at that precise moment, Gandalf used light magic to dispel Lukas' cast. Before Lukas attempted to confront him about it, Gandalf then used wind boast magic to separate Aries and Prose from Jaguara's grasp. His movements resembled how a peregrine falcon prepares its body for high-speed maneuvers as it dives through the air to snag its prey.

Jaguara smirked as Gandalf removed Aries and Prose from his grasp. Lukas was perplexed and stunned, seeing as Jaguara was standing in front of a diamond ophidian, not to mention his smirk. His emotions are additionally agitated as a result of how easily Gandalf nullified his magic, activated another spell, and performed an action.

"Get him today, my boy," Gandalf shouted to Jaguara, with a huge smile on his face.

A great bright light flashed in front of everyone, the diamond ophidian uses its forehead to make a light powerful enough to blind its foes, but it's unlikely it uses it for offensive; it's more probable it uses it to flee from its enemies.

The diamond ophidian moved quickly and targeted Gandalf in a split second. It almost appeared that Aries and Prose were the diamond ophidian's real aims from the beginning.

Lukas and Gandalf both cast a barrier spell instantly in an effort to mitigate the damage of the diamond ophidian hit... thanks to their quick reflexes.

With the immense mass and great momentum of the diamond ophidian, the first layer of the Gandalf barrier was destroyed, and the strike was barely stopped by the Lukas barrier spell.

Thank goodness Prose and Aries were unharmed.

Jaguara swiftly coated his entire body with rock magic, leaped into the air, and attempted to smash the diamond ophidian forehead from behind.

Recognizing the attack from behind, the black ophidian utilized its massive tail to make a powerful swing toward the air.

Jaguara felt as if it had made a mistake by charging without thinking toward the diamond ophidian.

*Whack…*

Jaguara took a direct blow from the massive tail, flew away, smashed into the trunk of the tree, and plummeted down on one of the tree's limbs.

Gandalf took use of the window of opportunity to bring Aries and Prose inside the tree house while the diamond ophidian was preoccupied with the Jaguara attacks.

"Buy me enough time to cast a barrier around the tree house," Gandalf shouted, before casting a high-effect area barrier spell.

Jaguara realized that charging in blind would be futile, so he waited for Lukas to make his move.

Lukas recognized Jaguara's thoughts and decided to act.

However, it appears that the diamond ophidian was only interested in Aries and Prose, as it cast the light spell again and attempted to sneak past Lukas and reach Gandalf.

But this time, knowing the diamond ophidian's attack pattern, Lukas instantaneously flooded the ground with fire and cast wind magic in the direction of the diamond ophidian.

The combination of wind and fire magic caused a massive blast of flame that hit the diamond ophidian; however, it appears that the oily substance covering the diamond ophidian's body substantially aided in preventing it from being burned.

The attack was not ended yet, the fire blast was simply a distraction, the true attack came from the air, Jaguara took advantage of his high ground and made a tremendous jump from the limb of the tree and reached a great height, and come down with a huge speed while casting strong rock magic to amplify the strength of his claws and hit the diamond ophidian's forehead with full vigor.

*Crack…*

The strike from the Jaguara from the air, penetrating the flames in the ground and hitting the diamond ophidian's forehead was breathtaking; the moment Jaguara hit the diamond obsidian's forehead, there was a huge blast sound followed by a crack sound; the strong impact from Jaguara arms must have broken the diamond ophidian's skull.

Finally, the long tail began to curl and a firm grip that appeared to be able to crush boulders began to gradually fade away. The body, which had the appearance of a dragon without wings, then gently collapsed to the ground.

Gandalf performed his spell and smiled at Lukas and Jaguara.

Jaguara and Lukas appeared to be in total exhaustion as Gandalf approached the diamond ophidian's corpse, started it for a while, and remarked that it looks suspicious.

"It appears that it has already begun." With a "sigh" gesture, Lukas turned to face Gandalf.

"It's preferable we start discussing all we knew, first and foremost tell me what you knew about Aries and Prose, as well as the reason you came to aimer."

"Lukas! Although I am aware that you have your own reasons, given what just transpired, I don't believe you can continue to avoid answering my questions. With a stern expression on his face, Gandalf said this.

Jaguara didn't want to become involved in Lukas and Gandalf's conversation, especially when Gandalf was angry, so he went into the tree house and began feeding Aries and Prose the fruit juice Lukas made earlier.

Lukas agreed to tell him everything, subject to a few conditions because he realized there was no turning back at this point and that his only choice was to tell him everything he knew and the reason for his visit.

Given the gravity of the situation, Gandalf allowed Lukas into the tree house.

Lukas was rendered silent as soon as he entered the tree house by the spell that covered it; the spell that Gandalf cast earlier cast around the tree house was not a protective barrier but rather a concealing one that prevent outsiders from seeing this tree house and from hearing any sounds from this tree house.

"You cunning old fox," Lukas whispered as he entered the tree house.
