"Say yes! Say yes!" Maddie's overly excited voice caught the attention and made Castelia look at her. Maddie flashed a super big smile, showing how happy she was.
Castelia took too much time to respond, and an impatient Maddie nodded her head as a signal for Castelia to hurry up. Castelia looked at Lucas who was still waiting, hoping to give him the same answer Maddie wanted but Castelia didn't think she could.
Castelia didn't mean to refuse, she just couldn't accept Lucas at the moment. Castelia hesitated to speak, "I'm sorry, Lucas—" The words slowly wiped the smile and excitement from Maddie, making her question whatever the apology meant.
Castelia said regretfully, "I'm sorry but I don't think I can give you an answer right now." Because of those words, the atmosphere that was previously joyful and bright changed completely. Maddie saw black and cracked glass, maybe happiness.
