Chapter 3 - Magus World Review

This place is really something...

Don't get it mixed up, Magus and Wizard are different things. A Magus is more combat oriented. At least Magus power follows a more systematical approach and to be honest with you, it looks cooler.

With Magus spells you don't need a wand, and a little magic circle pops up when one is activated. There is however a lack of utility spells one can access and a kind of limitation to spells you have an affinity for. I say kind of because if you were to use a spell under an element you don't have an affinity for, if would be monstrously weaker than sticking to your strengths.

My experience in this world was mostly positive for once! Of course there is the exception every now and then.

I started out in a little quaint and rundown village called Arielus, and was raised through the struggles of poverty by my family.

At the age of 5, 1 out of 10,000 people will show signs of forming a mana core, kind of similar to the dantian cultivators posses, which also pretty much allows one to do the same thing: intake energy, which in this case would be mana, and use it to strengthen themselves and output said energy, which for this world would be in the form of spells, potion making, rune crafting etc.

The Magus world follows a similar class hierarchy you would see in earths middle ages: king, nobles, normal people. But above all of those, a Magus has the power to stand by themselves, unchained.

When I was tested for magic potential, to absolutely everyone but my own's surprise, i passed. A trait of my race I guess.

There was this little shit named Jared Mulnoviell, the son of the noble our villages territory was located in who tried to kill me and my family because he was jealous i passed and he didn't. Well, get fucked Jarry-boo! Fucking idiot lmao.

Anyway the travelling Magus who was testing us sorted him out.

As the Magus is sort of mysterious and something normal people cant really comprehend, they live in their own continent, which takes up around 64% of the planets surface and is separated into territories governed by different schools and organisations, the number of which is kind of hard to remember as they get destroyed and built pretty fast.

These schools and organisations focus on different affinities normally but there are some major ones that are dedicated to the various professions like potion making, rune crafting, beast taming and whatever application you could probably think of.

Most people of this place are wildly good looking as physical appearance is not a big deal to change, however it wasn't uncommon for them to disappear into closed off research for years at a time, attempting to break the bounds of what's deemed possible, or most commonly to escape the fate of death. Many tried, all failed. Except me of course cause I travel worlds and am basically immortal.

Those selfish bastards can smd.

The schools are what you would expect a school to be. You go in, learn, practice and get stronger. Once you graduate you would either become a traveller doing whatever you want, or get into an organisation that puts your abilities to work and you make a living, start a family and live your life.

One thing kind of freaky about these Magus is that they're all crackpots! Druggies! Weird isn't it? Well it turns out that having mana automatically clean out their system, makes alcohol have no effect, and they hate it! Since the intake of mana extends a Magus life, not having anything to have fun with is boring as shit! There are entire organisations made to create different drugs and psychological experiences. Its a massively valued industry that has both what would be considered "good" and "bad" Magus support alike.

They normally use magic plants and/or magic ores, crystals etc, that are hard to find and farm. They are weirdly fucking creative. Turns out the richest Magus in history is not some potion maker or artefact rune crafter, its a drug dealer!

Magus are generally regarded as cruel and selfish beings, which probably stems from their own survival instinct of self preservation. Its common practice to used live humans for experiments with little to no regard for their lives. Most if not all Magus see this as normal but to mortals it gives them a generally negative and mysterious reputation. But alas, the Magus communities don't care in the slightest.

I'm gonna be honest. I really enjoyed my time here. There was little to complain about and I genuinely recommend giving it a go if you can.

8/10.
